The Gun Control debate thread

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
Every able-bodied male up to the age of 65 ? Correct me if I'm wrong but that includes criminals & diagnosed psychopaths...

And many Frenchmen....who on occasion, have been known to scare easily, and drop the gun, so they can.........well, surrender.

Time for me to start saying it too..............WORRY ABOUT THE SHITHOLE COUNTRY YOU LIVE IN!!

Seconded

not true, about switzerland,

from most recent stats (which i can easily find)

http://www.mapsofworld.com/world-top-ten/countries-with-lowest-murder-rates.html

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Switzerland

and also,

are you comparing like with like, or apples and oranges

do both countries have,

for example,

same gdp per capita,
same colonial history,
did the United States establish a continuing military presence in switzerland in 20th century with the purpose of providing U.S. Government support to neighbouring countries ?

the answers are no,

so maybe the murder rates aren't only dependent on gun laws in those countries

Thirded and johan is unavoidably a socialist who hates guns and people who back up the second amendment. My country guns laws are absolute shit and I am not afraid to say it.

Actually, if you except very small countries such as Monaco or Singapore, the country with the lowest crime rate is Japan, with a crime rate of half Switerland's crime rate. And Japan has probably the toughest gun laws in the world.

oh johan,

here you go again trying to advance your argument with facts and truthful statements, that's not fair

:sarcasm:

it'll probably get ignored like my post above,
as some kind of "inconvenient truth"

:dunno:

Cracks me up that, if inbred simpletons like that one up there ever do get their wish, and are justified in taking up arms to protect their freedoms from a tyrannical government, it won't be a liberal government that they're fighting against.

absolutely mate

which party says they're for limited government, but wants to control every aspect of peoples personal lives, start wars and introduced rules to spy on its citizens and detain people without trial?

yep, it's the good old authoritarian, extreme right wing gop

And that's what you, and your ilk will never, EVER, understand. We know EXACTLY who we're dealing with....that's not the point. What is the point is, we have THE RIGHT, to stand up against it. In fact, we have an obligation to. You might have democracy. but we have freedom....they ARE NOT, the same thing.

Like the man posted.....tyranny isn't going to unfuck itself.

There is no more control over people's personal lives than a government mandated healthcare system. WWI WWII the Korean conflict Vietnam (Not Eisenhower but Kennedy sent the majority of advisors) Johnson escalated and sent us into a full fledged war. All when Democrats were in power. Gulf War I was a coalition response to Iraqi aggression. GWB did start the second gulf war but the majority were started or directed under Democrats.

Yes, all excellent points. Both political parties are pretty much exactly the same as they were in the 1940's and there's absolutely no need to judge them based on modern performance when we can just see what they were doing decades ago.

Or what they "want to do" versus what they've actually done historically.

Tell me, which party or their supporters are more hostile towards free speech or a free exchange of ideas for instance? Who is for speech codes on college campuses? This whole political correctness thing is a purview of which party?

Of course that's the best you can do. One side is trying to take affordable healthcare away from millions of American women through defunding PP, and millions of other Americans by repealing the ACA, trying to keep gay people from getting married, trying to keep workers from being able to collectively bargain, trying to take support away from those who need it most, so they can hand it to those who need it least, basically trying to abolish every protection provided to the average citizen from the oligarchs by the government, the list goes on and on and on.

But yes, by all means, let's talk about the outrage of being asked not to say things that might upset others, because that's the biggest problem faced by this country today.

Asked, or mandated? Or in other words, the tyranny of thought. Remember, this was based on Blakeley's claim that the GOP wanted to control every aspect of your personal lives. No, they just don't want to fund every aspect of your personal lives.
