The Greatest Penalty Shootout !!

Big football fan...but what the fuck was great about this shit? Two clubs no one cares about taking penalties.

It's true that in hockey the pressure to perform is placed on both goalkeeper and shooter. In football, all the pressure is on the shooter. If a penalty is taken properly and a goalkeeper doesn't get miraculously lucky, the shooter SHOULD score. I actually dislike penalties for this reason.

Ice hockey is one of the crappest sports in existence. Oh look, another contrived fight, how exciting. Hey, where's the puck gone? Oh, it's disappeared behind the boards on this side of the ice, I'm sure it will come out soon and we can watch what's going on again.

There are many crap things about football, but come on. Ice hockey is ridiculous.

hockey is a way better sport than football

in hockey there are fights and checking

in football, the only contact between two players in accidental

And, in soccer, the fights are also in the audience and outside the stadium, so say "thank you" to the hooligans !

Anyway, if you need violence to have fun watching sport, well, you don't know anything about sport...

I'm not sure how this is the greatest penalty shootout when the penalty shoot out finish the newcastle players were going well done to the opponement like they didn't give a crap about it.

i Love Football and Hockey. just that football takes skill to play. you know something americans dont know nothing about. hockey was once fucking boring as well, until they took off the offside rule. Now only if FIFA would do the same.

1. There is still offsides on hockey...they did away with the 2 line pass after the '94 olympics to open the game up more.

2. It does not take skill to skate on ice...but MORE skill to kick a soccer ball?

3. As for not knowing anything about football skill ask England...afterall we not only played them to a draw and won our Group, which they were slotted to win easily.

If you knew anything about hockey you would not have made that ignornat comment about skill....douche.

Hockey is very difficult to play, but that doesn't make it more of a sport than Football.

Stereotypical idiocy. Exactly the kind of bullshit someone who's only seen a handful of games and lacks the mental acumen to understand what they just saw would blather about.

yeah.
and you know what really agitates me?
when after an hour of boring defensive ball passing one player finally gets the ball through the 24 foot long goal and the announcer starts screaming GOAL! GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLL! for the next 3 minutes.
At least its like that in South America, its so annoying to listen to.

I think many people who like futbol only like it because they think theyre supposed to like it because everyone else says they like it.
But inside they know its as tedious, monotonous, and boring as can be.

As adorable as a skinned rat with an ear growing out of its back.:eeew:

I don't know, he might have a point. It isn't that hard to skate up and down the ice, hitting a puck with a stick and getting checked into the boards. But Jesus Christ, I tried kicking a ball yesterday. Goddamn! I ended up in the hospital! It was just crazy!

Was it a cannon ball?

It must have been. I was just minding my own business and I walked past a park and there were two kids kicking it back and forth. I thought to myself, "Well slap my ass and call me Shatner, those kids must be the most talented people I have ever seen in my life. How they aren't an interner sensation yet is beyond me". And so I walked up and they asked me if I wanted to try. I said sure, and one of them kicked the ball towards me. I started sweating and I suddenly felt really nervous as that tricky black-and-white ball rolled towards me. I knew I was in way over my head with this one. I mean; KICK a ball? They might as well has asked me to organize a Monty Python reunion. But, I gave it my best shot. I winded my leg back, and when it came close enough I kicked it. Ended up missing the ball and hitting myself in the head.

In short: kicking a ball > everything Jesus ever did.

Maybe they subconsciously like it because it's an allegory for life. It's one mindless, monotonous, boring, excruciatingly soul sapping moment after another until your spirit is crushed. Then when something finally happens or something good comes about for somebody it has as much to do with happenstance and luck than with anything else. Maybe inside they think that if they watch somebody get some more or less random events in there favor and come out better for it that perhaps they can be the beneficiary of such fickle forces of reality themselves. Maybe people are drawn to it because in some perverse way they see themselves in it, or maybe in a way it’s also like slowing down to gawk at a car wreck even though you know it will be gruesome and regret it, even while understanding it‘s much less interesting on a curiosity level than that.
