The great battle: Alpha vs. Beta

Hey everyone,

I'm an alpha guy trough and trough. Majored in Arts, History, Geography and Statistics in high school and I'm now almost finishing my Poli Science College degree. To help with my Statistics I'm following a Math ***** and besides having to build my Math skill from the ground up, I've experienced that there are a lot of prejudices between students of social and technical studies.
I think this is a bad thing, every science is useful to society and humankind in general. Further more, my personal experience is that a lot of beta's (that's how we call technical students in the Netherlands) are arrogant. They think that social studies are for dumb people. (Though I have to admit that to succesfully finish a technical study you will need more math. My theory is that math, unlike many social fields of knowledge like history or politics, really has to build up. With history, you can study any period seperately, but you can't study Math areas seperately. That's why technical studies are harder for social students then vica versa.)
What are your thoughts on this?

Hmm guess the terminology isn't universal. ;)
WHat I mean with alpha and beta are social /language studies vs technical (exact) studies.
Does that make it clear enough?
Here in the Netherlands, whenever an alpha meets a beta, a battle ensues. I'm curious how that is from an international perspective...

Man for someone intelligent you really don't get the westerner concept of alpha's, Beta's etc. Personally I think it's a pile of bullshit but then again if I was an alpha douche I'd probably be cooking in my own juices.

I never said it was a legitimate or even a sensible distinction. That's what's on the table in this thread.
The reality is that (at least over here) people identify themselves with one of the two sides. And once this identity has been chosen, there is a lot of rivalry with the other side.

Dude to be honest unless you invent something new in mathematics, Or you increase your knowledge. Then invent something that revolutionizes the world or gains prestige within the academic global community. You aren't an intellectual alpha. Your just another brick in the wall slaving away to the man(pick your corporation or educational establishment) Possibly get plagiarized in the case of the latter. In the former, Anything you do you won't get credit for. Sorry but that's my cynical outlook on that.

On the other hand their is physical attributes. You look good and are at peak physical condition which also has Alpha status to some degree depending on age and what the chick wants. For example if she is rich or has a high flying career she may settle for this. Ideally they'd like a combo. Latest shocker statistics show chicks aren't even marrying in this range due to not finding eligible blokes:eek:

The common denominator is, If your rich. That's some automatic Alpha points. Buy a nice penis compensating vehicle, a plush pad. Fill it with nice modern furniture and techo gizmos. No fucking xbox!:1orglaugh

Jesus rant over I'm bored.

Oh damn, I think the terminology is confusing. I do NOT mean Alpha in the Dog Whisperer sense... I mean the distinction between students of social studies and technical studies.
