The Strat shape is a thing of perfection, and wow, Chester Bennington in that video.

it's very cool....but I can't imagine a great amount of long term playability, or sustain.

It's still made out of wood.

All of the tone is coming from the 3 single coil pickups and a 25 1/2 scale neck.

It would have been easy for Townsend to smash or Hendrix to light on fire.

The Stratocaster design was a stroke of genius by Leo Fender and has stood the test of time.

It has a distnctive tone, but it is not as versatile as the Les Paul nor is it as beautiful a work of art as a Les Paul Custom.

But the lack of a solid body contributes to it's lake of sustain, and even the tone. I get it's not made for that, it was just an observation. I'm not really a fan of Strats. Some guitar players I really like play them, but I would choose something else for myself. Now there basses, absolutely.....no tone like a Fender Precision, and Leo did invent the electric bass.

I would have to play that strat for a bit myself to say if it is really much less sustaining than a normal wooden strat.

Oh, here is another fun strat:

I'll leave this thread for you, with an outlook on future Strats. Jump forward to minute 3:00. Far out!

It's a matter of opinion. I find them uncomfortable especially in the sitting position. I'd rather have a Gibson SG or Jackson inverted V. Very comfortable sitting or standing.

It's a timeless design, like the Bic Cristal, but of course individual tastes vary.

My favorite guitar form used to be the Les Paul. Now that I have a Squier Stratocaster, I have changed my mind. I will make some little upgrades to it (It will stay a hardtail), but it is an instrument that is just wonderful.

I could get to like one of these big jazz hollowbody electrics, maybe, like George Benson plays. We'll see.

One of my favorite guitarists, Steve Howe, from "Yes", frequently plays a Gibson ES175. He has said it's his favorite guitar.

I have the same model Strat(in black) I love the beautiful sound but can't seen to find a happy medium with comfort. I still wouldn't trade it for anything tho ;)

I had a Fender Princeton Stereo Chorus amp, back in the nineties, and I miss it. But amps have gotten quite a bit better of late

I was pondering the possibility of building a Strat out of Texas native Mesquite for [NOBABE]the body[/NOBABE] with a Pecan neck and ran across this, pretty much what I had in mind, except instead of a bolt-on neck I would want it neck-through-body.

That's a beautiful guitar, but I'm not sure how I would feel about using pecan. I've never heard of that before. I would stick to maple and walnut, in a minimum 3 piece alternation. Don't forget, with a neck through, the pick ups and bridge are going to be in that same chunk of wood, and I have never heard of pecan as being a good tone wood. That's not to say I';m right, just never heard of it.
