Harry Dean Stanton has passed away.

Actor Harry Dean Stanton, who crafted characters in classic films such as “Godfather: Part II”, “Cool Hand Luke” and “Pretty in Pink,” has died at 91.

Stanton died Friday afternoon at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, TMZ reported. A cause of death was not immediately identified.

More recently he had played in the revival of “Twin Peaks” released this summer, as well as the not yet released Frank Sinatra movie "Frank and Ava."

Stanton, born in Kentucky in 1926, was raised in the Bluegrass State before serving with the Navy in World War II and fighting in the Battle of Okinawa, according to KET.

He later decamped for the West Coast and acted in theater before beginning his screen career in the 1950s with television appearances on shows such as "Rawhide" and "Alfred Hitchcock Presents."

Stanton has since amassed nearly 200 acting credits, according to the Internet Movie Database.

Son of a bitch. One of the truly underrated character actors (or plain old actors in general).

Harry Dean Stanton was great as Brain (From Escape from New York). He and Ernest Borgnine made Kurt Russell's picture enjoyable. Very sad to see him go. :(
