The Congress is Mostly Idiots thread

I think the whole world is basically stupid as all holy hell. It's just that America is the most interesting about it. The most 'flashy', so to speak. Why else are we under the magnifying glass so much more than anyone else?
Fuck the world for all it's worth. Every inch of planet Earth.
Fuck myself, don't leave me out. Don't get involved, don't corner me.

I'm *****.

Hmm, is this a bash Congress thread or a bash the Dems thread?

The Senate is irrelevant and must be disassembled. There is no way that we, the U.S., will reach our "full potential" in a "global economy" when Montana has as much power as California.

Nevertheless, your ******* words have inspired me.

Bring on 2012 bitches!

Well, so much for Republican leadership. It appears the midterm election plan by the GOP is to run on a platform of no issues. I guess they will go with an election plan of attacking the Dems while avoiding answering policy questions or actually offering solutions....

Yeah, this Democracy stuff is awesome...

Republicans divided on the importance of an agenda for midterm elections

By Karen Tumulty and Paul Kane

Sometime after Labor Day, House Minority Leader John A. Boehner plans to unveil a blueprint of what Republicans will do if they take back control of the chamber. He promises it will be a full plate of policy proposals that will give voters a clear sense of how they would govern.

But will Republicans actually want to run on those ideas -- or any ideas? Behind the scenes, many are being urged to ignore the leaders and do just the opposite: avoid issues at all costs.

Former Congressman Pleads Guilty to Obstructing Justice, Acting as Unregistered Foreign Agent for Jihadist Organization

FBI, 7 July 2010: A former congressman and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations pleaded guilty in federal court today to obstruction of justice and to acting as an unregistered foreign agent related to his work for an Islamic charity with ties to international terrorism, announced Beth Phillips, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.

Mark Deli Siljander, 59, of Great Falls, Va., pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Nanette K. Laughrey to one charge contained in an Oct. 21, 2008, federal indictment, and an additional charge filed today, involving his work for the Islamic American Relief Agency (IARA) of Columbia, Mo. Siljander was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Michigan and was a U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations General Assembly.

Co-defendant Abdel Azim El-Siddig, of Chicago, Ill., a former IARA fundraiser, also pleaded guilty today to conspiring with Siljander and others to hire Siljander to lobby for IARA’s removal from a Senate Finance Committee list of charities suspected of having terrorist ties, while concealing this advocacy and not registering with the proper authorities.

“A former congressman engaged in ******* lobbying for a charity suspected of funding international terrorism. He then used his own charities to hide the payments for his criminal activities,” U.S. Attorney Phillips said. “Siljander repeatedly lied to FBI agents and prosecutors investigating serious crimes related to national security. With today’s guilty pleas, all of the defendants in this case have admitted their guilt and will be held accountable for their actions.”

Siljander operated a Washington, D.C., consulting business called Global Strategies, Inc. IARA was an Islamic charity in Columbia, Mo., Premium Link Upgrade

The Senate is irrelevant and must be disassembled.
Irrelevant? Oh, I beg to differ, they're extremely dangerous foreign agents I say.
There is no way that we, the U.S., will reach our "full potential" in a "global economy"
Outside of Montana, what exactly are we talking about ''full potential in a global economy''? I thought that liberals were against a centralized global economy (?) :dunno: Who are all of the rowdies outside the door of the G8 every year, conservatives?

it tends to be worse in the senate cuz they've got that whole millionaires club thing going (aka not so good at acting like regular folk)...the main problem (as i see it) is congress men and women are to fucking busy trying to get reelected rather than actually trying to govern fucking 2/3s to 3/4s of their terms are spent trying to get reelected and we wonder why nothing ever gets accomplished:dunno:

How about the last 100 years or so? Everything's been going downhill since then, truth be told.

You Americans do get very excitable about your politics, don't you?

Yes but in the wrong way. In a way it's very important to be concerned with the laws and lawmakers that affect your life if even indirectly, but at the same time it's important to actually focus on what's going on and not get excited by media buzzwords which seems to be the usual case with supposedly politically minded individuals.

I don't want to make this into a racial or partisan thing, so I add this and ask for everybody's cringe-worthy moments from our dear representatives of all colors, creeds and parties. There are certainty plenty to go around. But please, keep this as a Congress only thread (that means Representatives and Senators)

At first it struck me as odd what she said. Until I took a brief moment and understood that what she was trying to do, was to relate the VietNam civil war to what we are experiencing today. If only blind-sided Republicans could do this as well.

The very fact people routinely elect corrupt and even illiterate politicians to positions of power makes me lose my faith not only in democracy but in humanity.:(

How about the wife of a congress critter, does that count?

*Pay special attention beginning @ 2:40 mins . . . I :lovecoupl that ***!

The ever energetic Monica Conyers . . .An up and comer to the House of Reps . . perhaps?
 :1orglaugh

Classy lady. Maybe a little education beyond the third grade would have taught her to keep her pathetic behavior from turning the House of Representatives into the Jerry Springer show.

This broad sounds like some welfare case who thinks she's back in the hood yelling at her "babydaddy".

The **** in the video have far more class, intelligence, and manners than Mrs. Conyers ever will. We should elect them instead.

That's a good example of corruption there.
This one is less serious corruption, but has been ongoing for SOOOO much longer.
For further evidence of how corruption is ruining america, it's funds and it's military, just look at mr blacktails other vids. That guy knows his stuff big stylee innit ****.
*cough*
Sorry, had to talk to chavs today. Hard to get out of their language.

Mike Pence Explains Why America Can Afford Tax Cuts For The Rich But Not Jobless Aid

The unsavory task of explaining why America apparently can't afford to help the unemployed but can afford tax cuts for the rich fell to Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) on Sunday.

"Republicans, me included, have supported numerous extensions of unemployment benefits and we're anxious to do so again," the Indiana Republican told interviewer Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday." "The deficit this year is a trillion dollars for the second year in a row ... The American people have had it with runaway federal spending, deficits and debt, and they want to see men and women in Washington, D.C. make the hard choices."

Polls released last week showed that despite anxiety about spending, registered voters actually favor helping the unemployed even if it adds to the deficit.

How about ending the useless warmongering in the Middle East Congressman? Tax cuts during wartime usually ain't the smartest fiscal strategy :dunno: but it seems to be smart policy for Republicans and Democrats too (sad to say :******:)

Of course nearly all members of congress are idiots or corrupt or both. Even overlooking the fact that somebody almost always has to be rich or part of the elite to get elected to a high level job, they don't have the be the most qualified, most caring, or most ethical people. They just have to be thought of as very slightly less terrible to a very slightly greater number people than the person they run against when they try to get elected. Often even that's a misconception by the slightly greater number of people that elected them and they are the more terrible one.
