It would have worked in Trump’s Legacy, but here we are.
Very good article. This should be a required caution for all of us - left, right, and center: “we fall for fake news because it’s easier for us, socially or intellectually.”
I think the polls speak for themselves, a significant portion of america does not like where america is going, they see it and feel it and know the odds are against them - so now they are fighting back more than ever and organizing themselves like never before.
It's not about believing lies from the fake news or being lead astray by trump - it's about being lead by one of their own, a fascist a populist a bully, someone like them that believes that the ends justifies the means.
They don't have to or want to understand what words like fascism or populism or ideology or nazism or libertarianism or etc mean, they just want what they want and damn the rest - they don't have to or want to understand themselves, they don't have to or want to understand anything except that they fear and **** whatever is dissimilar to them.
It's about us against them - our way of life vs theirs, our party against theirs, our gang vs theirs.
Can't ***** or ********* them to change because they won't change and refuse to learn.
Education will help over a long period of time, just like poplar opinions change over the centuries - but that is the time it will take to realize change.
Either they will get their way through ***** or votes, or not, but this problem is not going away - in fact it might get worse because they didn't win the election, that's how bullies are, they don't let reason interfere with their bullying.
If they had won they would be content in their oppressing others - the civil war only began because the South refused to listen to reason, this is no different, if the North allowed the South to rule there would have been no civil war.

I don't that's entirely true at least in the sense that a lot of them really do believe that stuff. If they didn't then why not just be more honest about it? There is too much rationalizing by people to believe they don't care about lies or being lead astray. It's not like you see too many of them that say, "Yeah, I know all that stuff is bullshit, but I don't care. I just want my side to win." There is too many excuses being made by people to believe it's not at least in large part about believing the lies.

I bolded your comment. How could followers of Trump and the GQP (notice I used a Q here) be honest? If they have a Fascist President (Trump) and Johnson, Halsey, Cruz, Graham, McCarthy, Gaetz, Taylor-Green, etc. leading them and filling their heads with lies, half truths, misrepresentations, etc. No. The only way we get rid of this Despot / Dictator (your choice) and these GQP leaders is to not vote him and them into office in the first place.**
** (provided that Donald Trump Sr. is not incarcerated by the time November 5, 2024 comes around. Serving a nice fat twenty-five year jail term for tax fraud, wire fraud, etc, etc, etc.)

And I still fear that they will. Americans are not willing to believe and /or invest the time and energy to stop it. Need to watch the Super Bowl or some such ****. Or maybe go out with my friends for a ****, or see a movie. You know, the important things in life.
