jeez man, you pretty much listed all of the war flicks that has ever been made :D
now, the wild geese was a mind blowing movie 30 years ago but... watched it again recently and it put me to

my favorites are :
saving private ryan & band of brothers for their excellent camera work and real-life like battlefield experience .

Saving Pvt Ryan
Full Metal Jacket
Hamburger Hill

Haven't seen Apocalypse Now or Platoon so I can't comment on them. In fact I haven't seen too many war movies.

Black Hawk Down was one of the best modern war movies that has come out.

I love it because it shows how tragic it is when dedicated and heroic men are wasted and sacrificed by commanders and politicians who don't know what the hell they are doing.

The Thin Red Line was another movie I loved, with a similar theme.

Wow, I also loved, Saving Private Ryan, Glory and Hamburger Hill, which were also about valuable soldiers being wasted needlessly in battle.

I'm detecting a trend here . . .

Saving Private Ryan, Letters from Iwo Jima, and Black Hawk Down.

Although it was a mini series, Generation Kill was pretty good too.
