i used to love the Simpsons, ive lost interest in the show in the last 5 years. Before that i loved Dr. Marvin Monroe and Bleeding gums Murphy as supporting characters who appeared once, or only once in a while. I loved Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz, Marge's sisters provided some good moments and Homers brother Herb had a great 1 time appearance on the show. I miss the good ol days, it just feels like that show is out of ideas

The Simpsons was a great show for like 10 years. If you came along after that and didn't get what the big deal was, fine, I understand... but in it's day it was the best, period.
the fact that it obviously set the tone for later irreverent cartoon shows to push the envelope of good taste is irrelevant to my opinion.

Silly lines like
"My cat's breath smells like cat food." or "Everything's coming up Millhouse!"
still make me chuckle today.

Wow, a far as melon scratchers go this ones a honeydew.

To me there are like 4 levels of simpsons characters.

Main - the family.
Chief secondary - like Flanders, Burns, ect.
most are Secondary - Snake, Frink , CBG, Cletus, ect ect ect ect .
And one timers like Larry Burns, Hank scorpio , Frank Grimes ect ect.

yes, I am a nerd.
I had at one time about 1000 action figures from the 60's to the 2000's.
They had their own room in my house.
Sold most of them for good money, but kept most of the Simpsons.
Still missing a few, but I snag em on ebay when I see a good deal.
sad that this series of figures ended in 2004 before they made one of every character.
Its missing about 10-15 secondary characters that never were to be.

For the EMPEROR!!
Chief Wiggum was always a favourite as well.

Chief Wiggum: ""I'd rather let a thousand guilty men go free than chase after them".

Lou: There's a couple of guys fighting at the Aquarium, Chief.
Chief Wiggum: "Do they still sell those frozen bananas?"
Lou: "I think so".
Chief Wiggum: "Lets roll!!.

Dr. Nick

I agree with others that it has gone downhill in the past three years but 20 + years in prime time will tax the strength of any writer or animator.

It is my favorite show of the past 30 years. In it's prime it was a cultural phenom.

Another of the internet's great benefits- you can see beloved cartoon characters from any era participating in bestiality or incest. WHEE!!!!

Seriously, I think this thread points to the important fact that.....

We're really running out of shit to talk about. :stir:

That has never stopped people from talking before, so that shouldn't get in the way. :)

]Didn't Grimes actually not die? He came back later on in an episode as some elusive thief or killer[/B].... I can't remember at the moment but I remember a parade and he was some parade float holder. Meh...

That was his son.

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
Is there a Coaches or AP poll I can look at for this? How can I tell who's underrated without seeing the current rankings?

:dunno:
