Probably but the Stooges are so old maybe an injection into the 21 century is a good thing. That line-up does have potential if they are indeed involved.

At first I thought, gay. Another remake and another ruined classic. Then I saw the lineup, and that is talent right there. I dunno. We'll see I guess
It will probably have three very good performances by the three stars but the movie will probably suck. The original Stooge movies were 15-20 minute shorts. Hollywood is going to try to make a two hour movie out of it.
In a 15-20 minute movie you can get the audience to suspend their belief that three people such as the Stooges could actually function in life let alone have other people hire them for various jobs because the action is bang, bang, bang. However when an attempt is made to stretch the plot out to a two hour movie it's going to be extremely difficult to get people to believe it could happen.
It's much the same reason that almost every Saturday Night Live skit have never made a decent movie.

i'm not to sure about this one because Jim carrey is a funny actor but sean penn and benicio del toro not so funny?
its hard to improve something that set the standard for most (if not all) of the slap stick comedy we see today, but hey nothing ventured nothing gained, I guess

From what I hear, it's not a remake, or bio-pic. It's these 3 guys, doing the stooges.

Fidel Castro - Larry
Hugo Chavez - Curly
Kim Jong-il - Moe
(Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is slated to portray Shemp Howard in the much anticipated sequel, tentatively titled Away With The Family Ties That Bind.)

I actually thought Benicio was pretty funny in Fear in Loathing in Las Vegas. Anybody remember that one? But Benicio as Moe? :dunno: And I don't recall Sean Penn ever doing a comedy.
Anyway, I predict a train wreck...
Not that there is any line up around today that could do justice to a "3 Stooges" remake but that line up doesn't make any sense.
If Benicio Del Toro can pull off Moe....he would deserve a lifetime Oscar for that one IMO.
