Terminated/Fired Today - making a video later

I have a great story to share with you guys.

Today, February 22nd, 2010 I was fired from my current employer Lowes. It's not something you can ever guess why either. It's so rare to be fired this way it's not even funny and how I managed to pull it off is amazing.

On our schedule for the front end which is seen by about 5-10 employees a day I wrote three different things about myself. The three said things were negative towards me and had an arrow pointing towards my name. I don't remember two of them, but one was "your such a fatass".

I got fired for making fun of myself. Now that is unbelievable. I will make a youtube video later to share it.

Haha, I did, but as it says in the rules "making of other employees in not acceptable". I guess you can't make fun of yourself on company ground.

I'm not really mad. I'm disapointed a company would do this though.

I'm a college kid and we goof around, but to fire someone for making fun of themselves. That's just "epic".

Head down to the MN Unemployment office and file for compensation. If your employer didn't write you up you should be able to apply for compensation. I got compensation for a year because my people did'nt write me up.

Seems pretty strange to be fired for a single incident. But I suppose the use of profanity might be an issue and the context (even if associating it with yourself) could have been insulting to others who are actually fat.

But seems pretty strange on it's surface.

With so many power tools and construction stuff lying around there and all the pranks that you can come up with all that stuff and you get fired for something like that...oh, well. Good thing that you're a college student and so finding a part time job shouldn't be that hard, I mean, even Wal-Mart and McDonald's, despite the reputation of working there, a paycheck's a paycheck and I doubt you'll be spending the rest of your life flipping burgers, just something to get some extra cash while you graduate from college and then go get that much better paying job. So good luck on that from someone who's been there and has done that (with much better pranks though)
