As much as society frowns on "child porn" and anything related to children and sex, I for the life of me can't understand how some of these websites have girls (and boys) who honestly look no older than 14, maybe 15. I share your opinion. On the other hand, I feel even more sympathy for the girls that did porn ten to 20 years ago and never expected it to come to every household through the net. You thought the videos would stay in some dingy stores, behind some sticky curtains. (Or in the depths of the internet, way before social networks etc.)

I'm not sure there is truly a "right" answer to this. I'm think there must be many different reasons why a woman chooses to do porn. The sense I get from the posts on this thread is that there is a default assumption that doing porn is something to be ashamed of, and thus must be kept a secret from family and friends. If a young woman isn't shy about her body and wants to make a living or pay for school by doing porn, she should do so. Proudly. It's her choice afterall. But with that choice there may consequences. Before taking her clothes off on camera for the first time, she should ask herself if she's OK with the fact that her pix and vids will be out there online forever.

I think of porn as acting ... with real sex. And it's an occupation that is slowly being destigmatized. There's nothing wrong with sex with consenting adults, professional or amatuers. I agree that doing porn should not be something to be ashamed of. If I saw a girl I knew doing porn online I would think she was the coolest girl ever, but then I am a Freeones member. No, I don't think so at all. The OP asked why a legal teen would ever consider doing porn besides money -- and he said nothing about 17-year-olds. He was focusing on the public shame aspect that some stars might feel as they get older. I think I answered all of that directly.

To clarify my first post, my point of view applies to girls who are 18 (17 is illegal, is it not?). If you think 18 is too young for porn, that's merely a matter of opinion. Once you reach the age of consent, it's your choice, your life, your body. Your free to make your own choices. For some, doing porn will be a mistake, for others it will be a good choice. Yes, they should ABSOLUTELY think things through before taking their cloths off on camera for the first time, because there's no going back. But if they're fine with it, then we should be, too. Now, as they get older their values may change, but again that was their choice. If an 18-year-old woman wants to do porn it's her choice to make and she will have to live with whatever results from that choice, both good and bad. And we really shouldn't sit in judgment.
