Tea party convention

Anybody watch the tea party convention last night.Their keynote speaker was Sarah Palin.:1orglaugh

The most striking thing about such gatherings is how racially non diverse they are as well as being mostly middle aged or older. Its almost exclusively an older all white movement.Just another manifestation of the white backlash to the changes that have occurred in america. They would obviously like a return to a much more white supremcist america ,although of course america is still a country with a lot of discrimination against non whites and preference given to the white majority ,they want it to be much more so like the good ole days they fondly remember.Let the republicans and Sarah pander to them, they will alienate many whites and all minorities and that is not a recipe to win elections in the america of 2010.

I didn't watch it... I had to trim the dog's nails and then clean her ears out (really busy night). But upon learning that Wasilla Sarah was paid $100,000 to say whatever she said, all I could do
was

I don't know a huge amount about this movement(s). But apparently some of them are just rebranded GOPers (propped up by Fox News, Palin, etc.), while another faction is made up of actual grassroots people. I haven't figured out who is who yet. And I understand the founder of one faction is upset with members of the other faction, because he sees them as interlopers.

Interesting bunch of people, to say the least. I really don't know what to make of them just now. Last summer, they had a big rally not far from where I live. All I heard them do was scream about what they didn't like. I didn't hear the first solution being proposed.

NPR played a clip of her speech and she said the line: "we need to ask for guidance from God".....

I take it she's going to try to unite Tea Baggers + Evangelism. I'm not sure a lot of the different Tea Bagger Militia Movements (there seems to be so many now ) will accept that. There were only 6000 people at this thing. A bad basketball game draws more than that. :hatsoff:

I sometimes wonder just how much attention Mrs. Palin would be getting from anyone if she looked like Janet Reno. :dunno::D

If she and Rush are the standard-bearers of the conservative movement, I don't give them much chance to gain a whole lot of traction with mainstream Americans. The tea-baggers are mostly a group of old, angry and very, very frightened white people.

It's just maddening that nitwits TRUE NITWITS are able to be taken seriously politically in this country.

Sarah Palin and First Dude Palin have proven nothing more than that they are lousy parents. And yet to many people (maybe more than the 6000 that showed up at this event) she's worthy of representing an entire nation on the world stage!!

Madness....madness....

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Sarah Palin, in a speech that was short on ideas but big on enthusiasm, took aim at President Barack Obama and the Democrats, telling a gathering of "tea party" activists that America is ripe for another revolution.

with respect i must say bullshit friday.when blacks gather and protest no one says its black supremist.
this aint about race.

It's funny that after attacking Obama for using teleprompters (wonder what she had to say after Obama handed the GOP their asses on a silver platter at their Baltimore Q & A), we see here how Palin used crib notes written on her hand to help her in the Q & A session after her speech (for which she had some idea about what she was going to be asked, and had time to prepare):

I've also heard that she was on Faux Noise recently to defend Limbaugh's use of the word retarded (whereas she was outraged when Rahm Emanuel used it).

Jesus how could you defend the word retarded? It isnt even a good word for someone with actual disabilities.

PS> I mean its stupid you must have brain cells on a miniscule level. Two perfectly healthy parents still run the chance of having offspring with some kind disability this increases especially as the woman gets older. I mean alot of folks must even have a relative.

Politicians...don't yer just love 'em?

The principles of the Tea Parties is great IMHO... but Sarah Palin is NOT the right spokesperson... Not even CLOSE.

And I agree with MP, this movement has not a goddamn thing to do with race, but rather the role of goverment, it's power over the people, and our rights to live our lives as wee see fit.

Since NeoCons have easily infiltrated and taken over the GOP, it doesn't surprise me that they have also done the same exact thing in the Tea Party by having a generic Conservative such as Sarah Palin as the keynote speaker

That is so pitiful that I don't know what to say. And you know I wouldn't easily pass up a chance to make fun of Silly Sarah. But that... I mean... $100K for THAT?! :dunno:

What's really sad is the money some people have to pay to even get into these things. It seems like the whole tea party movement is quickly turning into any other joke like every other political group is, like it was pretty much destined to do. Some politicians see it as a means of getting some quick cash and pandering to those people mindsets for some cheap votes. I hope they realize that. In the end they aren't any different than anybody else.

What ? no thread about a certain ****** ****** on the homeland within the next 6 months, nor any assurance on the part of the "O" administration that they're doing all that they can to prevent such an ****** ?

... and why so little discussion about the "O" administrations' severance of our space exploration budget and all of the related job losses sure to follow ?
Do any of you lefties realize how difficult it will be for this nation to resurrect this program once it is suspended ? Do any of you lefties have even the most
rudimentary understanding of the technologies that are developed as a result of our once world class space program ?
Ya don't really care one iota about our space programe do ya ? Well, you care in the sense that you want this nation reduced to 2nd or turd world class status, I get it.
