Just remember for hundreds of years before , while spain , france england and almost every other area in europe, asia, russia ect were busy killing each other for territory and religion that Germany lived pretty much in peace.

but of course they are the racist haters of the world.

Who, in this thread, said that Germans are inherently warmongers? You're defending and accusation that wasn't even made in an argument that doesn't exist.

I think he meant that doesn't understand how his swastika thread came to be about Hitler...

Anyway, you're a Mignola fan?

Kind of. Never really read much of the comics but a few. I enjoyed the films. I've noticed cartoon films coming out.

I have been out of comics now for a a few years so I am lost at what's all going on or if Mignola is still around doing comics...

I don't even understand how this changed to hitler so much. I'm going to go. I hate talking about hitler and how he fucking ruined a beautiful symbol of peace. I'll talk to you guys tomorrow.
I feel your pain, but it's best to let it go.

I don't know. I've been to Swastika and it's a pretty big shithole.

As far as the origins of the symbol, no one is 100% sure from where it came.

As far as aesthetics, as I actually work in design, it's symmetrical, full of familiar shapes regardless of culture, works well within a frame (circled) or outside on a broad background, colour is easily modified without compromising the over-all effect of the symbol. In general, it is a nice symbol rich in its simplicity. But that's just my own, technical evaluation. My opinion is pretty much useless if I'm trying to tell you if it is beautiful or not.

But no, it is not beautiful in contemporary culture. I don't care what the origins are, or how it was once used. When much of the world's population sees this symbol, they think of the Holocaust and of Hitler. I don't care how nice or beautiful the symbol is, don't use it and expect people to ponder its beauty. If you use it, expect people to associate you with all the shit that goes along with it.

damn. Long winded again today...Someone should punch me in the mouth.

The normal swastika is different than the tilted swastika. I don't think you guys understand.

Normal swastika = ancient one
Tilted swastika = german one

Normal swastika = well being.

can you provide pictures of both?

I provided a link to all the Nazi symbols between all the different religions.

Islam, Christian, Jewish, and etc. They don't exactly use them today like eastern cultures do.

While I'm not going to speak to all of those images, the one labelled "Christian" is actually a variation of the "Jerusalem Cross." That variation on the Jerusalem Cross gained popularity in the early forties.

Plus, these are not variations on the same images. These are, if authentic, images from those different cultures which mean different (and almost certainly) unrelated things.

This isn't a universal symbol, and I'll maintain that it isn't an acceptable symbol in contemporary culture, regardless of intent.

But that's just my 2 cents.

Most of the cultures used them to represent peace not their religion. Some used it as a religious icon, but it's mostly for peace.
