Neither one worked for me,but my surname is so fuckin' obvious it's not even funny so it's a moot point.

That just means that people born there (in Samoa) got the name. It does not mean that's where you're from. It traces the origins of ALL our names to the various places and then it is our duty to confirm what our background is. I thought the site made sense, but apparently people are having problems with it :dunno:

I put in my Mom's family name, and sure enough it came back correctly...and I read some threads from others who had the same origin and were looking for long lost relatives.
My Mom's name is not common, and I am probably related to some of those people from that site.
We are, both sides of my family, nearly 100% Russian. One Dutch ancestor which is pretty cool.

Been lookin' around on that board and there are a lot of folks on there getting in touch. Man the world is getting smaller and smaller.
