Suppertime! Suppertime! Hey Fellas, What'd You Have For Supper Tonight?

I went to put on a pair of jeans .. and they were TIGHT. Jumped on the scale, and a new "high" / record.. So .. I'll be setting a New Year resolution to drop a pound a week for the foreseeable future. At a minimum, in the short term: 1) no pizzas; 2) no bagels; 3) no desserts. So, last night I had a chicken and fettuccini Lean Cuisine, and a fuji apple with peanut butter (I have an apple a day, for .. "regularity").
I found cutting a meal or 2 out of weekends helps. I typically sleep in on days off, so a "late breakfast/brunch" is all I need to keep me full until dinner.
Also cutting down the size of meals helps too. A lean cuisine would definitely do the trick, although even I find that pretty light for a dinner. You generally can't overeat green/coloured veggies, so throw in a full salad (w/healthy vinaigrette dressing - no creamy Caesars), which will help you feel fuller.

I did some chicken strips and the rest of the bag of crinkle fries, with a Miller Lite. I dropped 3.5# over the past week - most of it over last weekend. Weather permitting Saturday night: I will have a festive Christmas Eve dinner with a grilled t-bone steak, cabernet sauvignon, and a slice of cheese cake. But then back to low cal meals.

Had something called Birria Tacos tonight. They are kinda like a taco version of a French Dip. Amazing Barbacoa Flavor and juicy as all heck!

Last night I had meatloaf and mashed taters. All store bought, and prepared,

(sigh) Christmas Eve it was -1 degrees Fahrenheit when I *would* have grilled my steak for the Christmas Eve holiday dinner. New Year's Eve: predicting rainfall starting at 3:00PM.. So .. I did a recent fave meal: Barilla Penne Pasta covered in Rao's Homemade Bolognese sauce. With 1/2 a bottle of Simi Cabernet Savignon, with four tablespoons of Friendly's Peanut Butter Cup ice cream for dessert. (Back to the diet on Sunday.)

New Years Eve and the house was bursting at the seams with food. We had a mixture of Filipino BBQ, Lasagna, Honeybaked Ham, and a ton of other stuffs that taste good but usually don't go together. People brought stuff so we ate the stuff. Happy New Year!

Don't forget, no chicken or turkey today, you should eat pork for good luck, and vegans can substitute black eyed peas.

I tried Wing Stop April 2022. I liked them / thought they were good.

I have some salt & vinegar chips I need to finish. So, I grabbed a roast beef sub at the market while shopping, cut it in half (still dieting), and had half the chips in the bag. I'll repeat on Thursday night. Washed it down with some Sam Adams' Octoberfest - which I'm also drinking, before it get too old.

You into spicy food? Ever try the Atomic Wings?

My spice game has improved to the point I need to bring a lawyer in to authorize my wings order. Spicy Chicken has exploded out here even though it's imported from Nashville. Sure is good.

Oh yeah, I'm down for spicy food. I get my Thai Massaman Curry with chicken "hot." Pad Thai I think medium. The best wing joint in my city has extra, extra, extra hot wings. I've gotten them a couple of times (first time by accident; I heavily emphasized "hot!" when I ordered them!). By my siblings I did a sauce hotter than hot; I think it had ghost pepper? Could only down I think three of those bad boys.

Otherwise: the past two weeks I've gotten into Rao's homemade frozen entrees. So far: 1st was cheese ravioli = good. 2nd was lasagna - eh; Stouffers is better. Tonight / 3rd was chicken parm over spaghetti = good. Had it with a garden salad, Catalina dressing; and 1/3 bottle of Menage a Trois table red wine. Being that I had a "nice" meal, I also was bad and snuck a Lindt chocolate truffle for desert.

Thai Curry is great. I love all the flavors with their herbs and vegetables in the curry along with the spicy sauce.

I had coupons for poutine/nachos & popcorn at the movie theatre, and I couldn't finish all of it.

I hear they have movie theatres where they serve you steak and wine, and even bring it to your seat.

My daughter requested fettuccine al burro with chicken and broccoli, so I made it from scratch.

My wife makes an awesome fettuccine Alfredo. She hasn't made it in a while, but broccoli and chicken or chicken and mushrooms always make it better. What is al burro?

Ahh. Italians use olive oil and garlic, it's called pasta aglio olio. It's killer if you make it with shrimp and scallops, for special occasions. But just as good with broccoli and chicken, or my favorite broccoli rabe. As far as butter goes, my wife loves plain egg noodles and butter, but if you do the cabbage and noodles thing, she's in all her glory. I take it "Al Burro" is a south western, or Mexican dish? Maybe one of their "peasant foods", like us dagos with potato soup, or pasta e fagioli (pasta and beans).

I tried a new-to-me Rao's Homemade frozen entree: penne in a vodka sauce. It was good. In lieu of dessert, I had my daily apple with peanut butter. And, I'm still working on those Sam Adams' Octoberfests.

I'm trying out a new recipe, spaghetti with walnut sauce, reportedly a favorite of Al Capone.

Never heard of that one. Must be Northern Italy. Most of what my family did was from the South or Sicily. Technically I'm Sicilian. I'm gonna have to ask a chef friend of mine about this.
