The world's richest model has reportedly reacted in her own way to the sliding value of the US dollar - by refusing to be paid in the currency.

Gisele Bündchen is said to be keen to avoid the US currency because of uncertainty over its strength.

The Brazilian, thought to have earned about $30m in the year to June, prefers to be paid in euros, her sister and manager told the Bloomberg news agency.

I don't blame her. Wait until the shit really hits the fan over here. You want to see expensive?

Gas doubled? How about quadrupling, and when food sells for 2-3x what it is today, and restaurants close and people lose their homes. Boom!

Don't worry about you know who, he can live off Dad's oil money and stick his foot in his mouth again while making another not very important speech. The envy of Ken Lay.

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
People get paid millions and millions of dollars because they look pretty...what the fuck? :wtf:

She should be paid in the currency of the country in where she has done the work.

However it does go to show how poor the dollar is these days.

I wonder if "Tom" can request the same.

If anybody needs a context ^, I'll elaborate.

Re: Quotes

I'll put it in bold if you like and there's still time.

Oh, I don't think I can.

Yep, I agree. If I can drag a cement block through the woods faster than you, shouldn't I make 30 Million dollars? Isn't that the nature of sports?

If I were her, I would take what I got and simply convert it to the currency of my choice. Apparently she doesn't want to pay the conversion fee on large amounts. If I had that income because of my body or ability to wiggle my butt, I wouldn't be complaining at all.

Tom has really beefed up his Post-game fashion look...I thought he looked very GQ this past time. He actually made the "hoodie/blazer" combo less gangsta and more corporate...kudos to Giselle for picking out Tommy's clothes!

It's a false report.

Her agent said this:

CNBC Squawk Box producer Stephanie Landsman spoke by telephone with Anne Nelson, Bundchen's manager. Nelson tells us reports that Gisele wants to be paid in euros are "false." Nelson's take: "Some idiot in Brazil reported something just to make news."

"Gisele has contracts in dollars,'' said Anne Nelson, Bundchen's agent in New York at IMG Models, in an interview today. "When she works in Europe she gets paid in euros, when she works in the U.S. she gets paid in dollars, when she works in Brazil she gets paid in reais, and so on and so forth.''

Further, 2 days after that story was published: http://wwd.com/notavailable/archive...A&industryKw=search&industryKw2=searcharticle

Credits to my good friends on a GB board.

At the end of the day she is being paid for more than just the work she does, include the press and stalkers as well as fans she becomes a busy girl

I think its amazing that someone who does nothing for a living is complaining about money. Victoria's Secret dropped her because she asked for too much money. This idiot needs to realize she is a privileged position, take millions she is being offered and shut the fuck up!

Conspiracy...
If these models complain about the money they are getting, then they should be forced to work a factory job, or in a restaurant, any menial low paying job. Then maybe they will be grateful for how good they have it.

I don't mind that she makes lots of money. If other people were really upset about the money she makes they would quit supporting her or things that pay her. It's not like she is a necessity of life to people out there like food is. (With the possible exception of BNF of course ;))

Oh dear, oh dear.

Just shows how uneducated you are on the modelling industry :o

Not only does it take a lot of dedication in your life style to remain in shape. Diets, workouts, taking care of your skin, etc. But also lets see you manage to spend hours in poses for the cameras. Do various outfit changes in very little time and still look good as you walk up and down a run way.

So do they deserve to be paid that little bit more for it. I'd say yes as it disrupts your whole life.

I must admit I think it's great the dollar been so weak. As I'm buying stuff from America and even with the shipping and handling included on top of it, still costs me a lot less than buying it in Britain. So if someone tried to pay me in dollars the reply would be "no way".

I gotta agree with Poggy here. Just because she poses for pictures and does runway shows doesn't mean she doesn't work. Her job is to look that good, and remember that she's paid that well because someone wants to pay her that well.

And the dollar is weak for now, but these things ebb and flow.
