Suggestion - WTF?WTF?WTF?

I don't know how this board is designed, but it wouldn't be too hard to have when you click the post reply button the message is scanned for banned links. It'd be easier if you couldn't post the with the banned link.

(On a technical note, add an ajax function to the posting process. if the proper value is returned, post OK if not alert() or floating div with info for the user. There might be a module for this already.)

The message is scanned for a banned links when you click the reply button. If a banned link is found, the word in the url is changed to ********** formerly (wtf?wtf?wtf), which is what this entire thread is about. So if you really didn't want to post the link, all you would have to do is edit your post once you see the url containing a line of ******.

I added a technical note to help explain. The idea was to not let there be a post if there's a banned link in the text. If you've ever signed up on a site and, Google apps and Facebook are good for this, when you type in data like an email address then click or tab out of the field, behind the scenes the text is scanned and then there's often some indication (highlighting or a message) letting the user know that their input is valid.

For example on here, I type a post with a banned domain. I click reply. Instead of the post being posted and me wondering why my link doesn't work and trying to find a work-around, I get a message that tells me 'board rule 1 broken...remove the banned link to complete your post.' Of course that doesn't remove the wording games, but it helps remove a dead horse to beat on.

Just thought this might bring up a helpful idea to help the board be easier to moderate and use.

i dunno

While we're on the subject of checking and editing our own posts, is there any way to delete them? It's mildly annoying to write a reply, hit the post button then find the link you put is banned, or that someone else has just beaten you to an I.D. Then, instead of being able to remove the post, you have to put "edit" or write a meaningless comment which needlessly bumps the thread. Any help? :wave2:

Member's can not delete posts and will never be able to do so. If you want a post edited in any way, contact a Mod.
