Story-driven webcomics (possibly with sexual themes)

I've been thinking of starting this thread for a while now. I've looked around the board and to my surprise I haven't seen a thread dedicated to webcomics anywhere. I mean the non-XXX, mostly normal story-driven ones that aren't just straight out porn and fucking without any other point. There are already many threads for that stuff.

This comic is why I started this thread. Great story, great characters, classic rock, giant tits (literally :D), sex and ******** and a supernaturally strong bodybuilder *****-wielding barbarian woman as a protagonist (for those inclined towards that :D). For the rest of us there are a lot of other hot rendered female characters with a lot more feminine musculature.. :drool2:

However, what makes this comic unique to me is that the author (John E. Draft) is insanely skilled in making those facial expressions really look alive and not something that came from the uncanny valley. He uses the character modeling program Poser and believe me, making facial expressions look natural with it is still extremely difficult (I've tried), regardless of the fact that it has features for specifically that purpose. Another unique thing is the story. That really got me addicted to this comic.

Then there's Questionable Content...

...El Goonish Shive...

... aaand that's enough from me for now. I really read webcomics a bit too much. This post would get insanely long if I listed everything at once.

Post your own favorite story-driven webcomics here. This thread isn't limited to those with sexual themes. I just thought that since this is FreeOnes, I'd start with that. ;)

One thing though: manga comics are way, WAY too prevalent. Don't post that, especially the ones with that traditional style with no noses and eyes filling half the character's head. That really gets in the bottom of uncanny valley as far as I'm concerned. Seriously. I really would prefer that this thread wouldn't be flooded with manga comics. I am willing to make some exceptions though.. and I already did by listing El Goonish Shive. Its drawing style is clearly inspired by manga, but still different enough to pass.

Merceneiress. Another promising comic using Poser-modeled characters.

Exiern. Heh. This is bound to make some people somewhat uncomfortable, but still.. quite an entertaining comic and it indeed does have a story too.

Much the Miller's ***. Shameless parody of Robin Hood. :D First strips here:

And now it's going on here:

This comic is a bit of an inconvenience, since it started in drunkduck and then moved to the rampage network. The actual first comics still don't seem to have been moved to the new site.

These do not have any sexual themes or references to speak of, but are really great otherwise.

Dr. McNinja by Christopher Hastings. Ninjas (duh!), zombies, pirates, dinosaurs, the occasional Paul Bunyan's disease... Full of different sorts of cliches, but used very well. Utterly crazy and hilarious, but still with a strong internal logic. I certainly have no idea on how the author has managed to make such a comic and keep up with that constant level of creative whackiness. Genius.

Goblins by Tarol Hunt. A story on what happens when lowly Goblins start to take adventurer levels.. and become player characters. It has some very interesting things later on in the comic. D&D setting.

Order of the Stick by Rich Burlew. Stick figures in a D&D setting (while parodying it a lot), lots of breaking the fourth wall and a long ongoing plot.. with a lot of awesome elements.

Oh hey, thread. Long time no see.

Spying With Lana (and Flare) by Sean Harrington. Making an exception with this, as it really doesn't have an ongoing story. However, it has lots of spying, lots and LOTS of fucking, unlucky situations, hilariously incompetent characters, guns, general ******** and embarrassing events. Certainly not boring by any measure! :jester: Though it's sometimes irritating that it's just R-rated and not full hardcore XXX...

I had a longer description for Lana but a board database error fucked that up when I tried to post and I didn't have it saved anywhere else. How convenient that it happened just now with this exact comic..

Gunnerkrigg Court by Tom Siddell. Interesting fantasy comic, tech vs. nature. Laconic author, laconic description. Just read it.

Girl Genius by Phil and Kaja Foglio. I believe I already mentioned this in the steampunk thread. Mad science gaslamp fantasy comic with a very long and complicated storyline. Kind of dangerous for the types who tend to go on archive binges with webcomics, such as myself. Also, a winner of three Hugos for "Best Graphic Story" and a trope namer for 7 tropes so far! :D Oh, and in case you don't know.. the Hugos are still actually given for real storytelling merits and not just for asskissing and circlejerking (unlike many other "awards" I could mention).

And...

Lovecraft is Missing by Larry Latham. No further description needed I think, just go and read it. It is absolutely awesome. :cthulhu: :cthulhu: :cthulhu:
