Calling him a dick rubs me the wrong way partly cause they're my team, and he's my fave player in the NFL. Sorry for being so defensive.

You said you were a Chiefs fan earlier. Are you just a band wagon jumper because they won? You're right he probably will start Week 1 but how effective do you think he'll be. Training camp start in 6 weeks. He's gonna be eating out of straw for a while because of the broken jaw. That means he's going to lose weight and muscle mass. To regain his game physique is going to be hard to do by the start of week 1.

damn did i stir up some shit on this topic, let me clarify. i just didnt have all of the story before i opened my mouth and i will say when im wrong. He's not a "idiot" or "dick" like i had said in the first post but i still think it would have been smart to wear a helmet and his injuries would have been less i guess. not being a steelers fan myself after what they did to my team the broncos last y ear in the playoff's i wasnt trying to single him out. just an opinion of mine that i should have worded more carefully. i hope he hads a speedy recovery and wish him the best this season. so there i said what i needed and have a good one everyone

That's good to hear, sounds like he's just taking his lumps like the down to earth modest guy he is. He's got a high profile and it would be even better if other people starting wearing helmets after all this.

Exactly!! These guys are role models to people of all ages. Not wearing a helmet sets a bad example. Whether they like it or not they have to show everyone that they ARE people youngsters and oldtimers can look up to. You parents out there I bet don't let your kids ride their bikes without a helmet for fear of injury. Same thing applies here. Either be safe or have soup inside your skull.

I'm a Chiefs fan above all else. The Steelers are my second team. Always have been, since I got into football in 2001. I love the way Cowher coaches. After those two, the Bills are my hometown team, so to speak. The Chiefs are my favourite team, but Ben Roethlisberger is my favourite player in the NFL, has been ever since his rookie year. I was in Pittsburgh the day they won the Superbowl... wow. And the year before, when they lost to the Pats in the Championship game. Talk about two different atmospheres.

Anyway, it's weird that you remember my being a Chiefs fan but not the umpteen posts I made about the Steelers, my second team, beating out the Chiefs for that 6th playoff spot and doing what the Chiefs would have done with it too: becoming the first 6th seed to go all the way.

Ben will start and will be better than ever, and the Steelers will go to the Playoffs.

Where was I? Living in England, not liking football. I can like whichever teams I like. If the Chiefs play the Steelers, I root for the Chiefs. Otherwise, I root for both. And I don't take offense and I certainly don't care how you think I "sound", because I've read your posts about me/to me on other threads so I know you just like to look for chances to have a dig at me. It's not like my other 2 teams, the Chiefs and Bills, are anything to shout about... well, the Chiefs are great, but anyway... who cares.

Fact is, Ben Roethlisberger will be in the playoffs this year, maybe even another Superbowl.

Back to topic....Ben may be in the playoffs as a Wild Card team but I think the Super Bowl is pushing it. They've lost a lot in the offseason and too many teams in the AFC have improved. It's up for grabs until January.
