The original movies are superior in every way, even the lack of modern special effects makes this universe more believable and realistic - for science fiction these are grown up films targeted to grown ups.
Episodes 1 to 3 were so annoying because of Anakin Skywalker acting is the worst I seen in any movie ever, ruined all 3 prequels - also the CGI made it worse than cartoony and childish, these were childish films targeted to ******** and teenagers.
All the Disney films were enjoyable if I imagined them as totally separate universe from the original movies, because these films are targeted to teenagers and ******** with additional ***** feeding the audience social justice issues that feel so artificially inserted it's pretty revolting. But, as stand alone films they meet Disney standards and are pretty good.
For Solo, the most annoying thing for me was knowing that Aldean Ehrenreich is supposed to play a young Harrison Ford but he looks and acts nothing like what I imagine a young Harrison Ford would look and act like. If I hadn't already seen the original movies it wouldn't have mattered, but I did so of course I imagined a young Harrison Ford to be taller lankier skinnier and with a long lean face, not the round chubby goofier face Ehrenreich has - an actor like a young Ryan Gosling or a young Ryan Reynolds looking guy would have been way more accurate to the original movies depiction of Han Solo.
So, apart from the change from original movies with adults saving the galaxy, the Disney movies always have ******** and teenagers upstaging the adults - if only the original movies didn't exist, this wouldn't be so lame cheesy and annoying.
But, ******** will love it and that's what Disney did best.
One of my favourite things to do if I'm having lunch and just having a few minutes on Twitter is to type 'Rian Johnson' into the search to see how many 47 year old men are still ****** about The Last Jedi (the best Stars Wars) on there. They're still not over it, bless 'em.
The new ***** battles are much more impressive that's for sure, I think after the Matrix all movies want to have the most fantastical fights ever, and is fun to see these awesome battles - but personally I still like the ***** battles of the original movie because it keeps the Star Wars universe more grounded and relatively realistic as opposed to Matrix styled universes.
Because the Matrix universe in all films are consistent in its fantastical special effects and flying fight scenes, it's more acceptable intellectually - whereas the inconsistencies from the old movies to the new are too much to accept for me.
I can't blame anyone that criticizes the inconsistencies of newer films, because the new directions taken in newer films would not have been considered consistent with the prior universe at all.
But, most younger audiences only care for what's more brighter and flashier and louder, that they can't appreciate the subtle perfections of the past - that is why ignorance truly is bliss and the ignorant are truly blissful, God Bless 'Em.

For true sci-fi fans, there are only good sci-fi and very good sci-fi.
Good is the lowest rating because there is no such thing as bad sci-fi.
Very good sci-fi is the highest rating because there is infinite room for improvement or imagination.
In sci-fi you can have characters with the power of God, they can destroy the entire universe in the blink of an eye, and recreate it in any form they choose.

Naw, that can't be the range of choices for judging sci-fi, I can think of many bad ones and very bad ones even not in the Star Wars universe - avatar, andromeda, tek war books by William Shatner, the new planet of the apes, sailor moon, pokemon, etc.
Can't accept that to be a true sci-fi fan everything sci-fi has to be categorized as good or better, sometimes bad is just bad - even if some or most like bad.
Dissected, it really is a fan's love letter to the OT. It's just not all of us fans agree how it was expressed.
Haha yeah, any sort of rewriting could have made it more consistent with the universe in the original trilogy - still enjoyed the Disney movies, but had to ***** myself to imagine them as totally separate from the original Star Wars universe to keep from getting too annoyed.
Overall, just like other Disney cartoons geared towards little ******** and teens, like Mulan and Pocahontas and Aladdin and Beauty & the ***** etc - to enjoy Disney films you have to not know anything about the original universes the they've stolen or purchased their ideas from, because Disney refuses to respect and stay consistent with the ideas they are building off of, instead Disney wants to appropriate ideas they've stolen or purchased as their own so they can assimilate everything into the Disney universe not unlike what the Borg do to civilisations they conquer.
Mulan and Pocahontas are my favorite Disney movies, also because I ***** myself to not be reminded of all the inconsistencies from actual historical stories, and instead enjoy them as stand alone silly ***** and teen marketed Disney assimilations - or else I would be too annoyed to watch anything Disney ever again.
All the criticisms by the ***** Fixer are valid, but mostly ******** and teens won't notice or be bothered because they won't know any better since they've not seen the original trilogy as adults, and are blank slates to the Star Wars universe - that's what Disney aspires towards in order to market their products, blank slates to be imprinted only with what Disney says is correct, history means less than nothing to Disney.
Other things that annoy me especially that the ***** Fixer mentioned already are how now anyone that picks up a light saber can use it expertly as if this were the Matrix universe, and also that Han Solo looks like a deadbeat *** - I won't go into how annoying that Luke Skywalker ends up running away and Leia seems to have become a weak figurehead without any allies left, other videos similar to this ***** Fixer one say it better than me.
The light saber in the original trilogy used to be exclusively the weapon of Jedis, a sophisticated device, not just a flash light anyone can pick up and flick a switch and use like a toy - then again, Disney wants to market their toys just as such so it's easy to see why they do this, it's for the ******** of course.
Same with the way others want to turn every lightsaber battle into scenes from the Matrix universe, they even want to rewrite the original trilogy to have these Kung Fu light saber duels with old Ben Kenobi and Darth Vader flying around - just like some of the other videos posted above, thereby taking any realism and sophistication out of the original trilogy, and replacing it with Lego Star Wars cinematics.
If you like Mulan you need to check out Katana the Asian pornstar. To me she looks like a live action version of Mulan. If she were an A list movie actress she would have been more suited to play the part.
Remember when Disney was going to do a new Star Wars movie that moved the timeline along every year or two? Yeah, the fact they so drastically altered that shows to me that they know they royally screwed things up with the sequel trilogy. They won't admit that, but there is no way a company like Disney is just leaving potentially billions of dollars on the table for the hell of it. The things that are successful about Star Wars now are other types of properties than the movies like video games and television shows that don't mention anything that happens in the latest trilogy at all. It's kind of telling.

How many people will give a **** about the new sequel characters in that amount of time? Be honest. Hell, how many people even give a damn about them now? I'm a Star Wars fan and even I have to actually go and look up what the new characters names are because I constantly forget.

D-Rock: you are correct; I remember that. UNTIL "Solo" came out, and fans revolted. Through word of mouth, people (and movie reviewers) noted how god-awful it was, and told people not to waste their two hours. "Solo" I think AT BEST broke even; I'm pretty sure it lost Disney money.
Per a Google search: With an estimated production budget of at least $275 million, Solo is one of the most expensive films ever made. ... Solo grossed $393.2 million worldwide, making it the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars film and the first to be considered a box office bomb. (I think the studio gets 50% of ticket sales, so - from these numbers, it DID lose money!)
If you remember, the next stand-alone movie was going to be about Bobba Fett. Disney instead turned it into "The Mandolorian" series, as a "hook" for Disney streaming.
