Space and ****

This thread probably wont merit many replies which is further proof how dissapointly short sighted folks are on the subject.

Basically the point I want to make is that humanity needs to continue its efforts to get into space. I feel its necessary because if we dont we are fooked, If we get confined to this planet we are quite frankly as a species going to die. That may take a long time but its a inevitability.

I write this because occasionally I come across articles about NASA budget cuts and just the general public opinion on the thing in America which is understandable as its tax payers money. Yes many other countries have now started there own programs but the reality of the situation is that NASA is pretty much the leading group in this field.

I think America and other countries should pull together on this and I dont mean joint projects I mean really pull together because it is perhaps alot to ask that one country make all the necessary advances and fit the bill in doing so.

Of course there are many reasons why this isnt the case: Ego no offense, Fear of sharing advanced technology that has military applications and other political and bureaucratic dung.

Yes space isnt something unless you get tourism to work that will provide any dividends in our lifetime or even our great grandchildren's perhaps. But the cold harsh facts are if even global warming is false we are still going to be over populated and resources are eventually going to run out and I just dont mean oil. Also because we are confined to one planet we are incredibly vulnerable to a extinction level event like an asteroid.

If space technology is abandoned as in big budget cuts we will never develop the necessary technologies. Persistence will pay off eventually and things thought impossible now by prominant scientists will either be disproved or we will find another way, by this I mean FTL(faster than light travel) The technology will not invent itself.

I aint no physicist but I still take physicist absolute statements with a pinch of salt as many have changed there theories for example Stephen Hawkins on his big bang theory. And even if we cant undo Einstein we will just have to cheat lulz.
