SoCal Porn Star Tests Positive for HIV

LOS ANGELES -- A San Fernando Valley clinic that serves many porn industry performers announced Wednesday that a female adult performer has tested positive for HIV.

The performer has not been identified due to privacy issues, but she works very infrequently, according to officials at the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation.

Initial HIV tests of the woman's partners have all been negative, according to the clinic. Those partners are not being allowed to perform right now, and have been encouraged to get re-tested in two weeks.

The new case is the first publicly confirmed HIV infection in a Southern California adult industry performer since 2004.

The case was confirmed publicly after discussions of a possible HIV case appeared on several adult industry websites.

Clinic officials have said rumors of an HIV outbreak are unfounded, and that the case is an isolated one.

County Public Health Director Dr. Jonathan Fielding says his office received no reports about the incident by Wednesday afternoon but would launch an investigation.

In 2004, an HIV outbreak shut down the Southern California porn industry for four weeks.

Dozens of adult entertainment companies halted production temporarily after actor Darren James tested positive for HIV.

James had been working in Brazil before testing positive. He spread the virus to three actresses who worked with him.

Some 50 people were quarantined because of possible exposure.

Public health officials continue to disagree with the fact that adult movie stars are not required to use condoms.

Adult film actors get tested for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases every 30 days, but some health officials say that's not frequently enough.

Adult industry experts say the 30 day testing protocol works well, and emphasize that no HIV cases have emerged in years.

I could be wrong but it seems like the rate of HIV among porn performers is fairly low considering.

For example, if you go to iafd and check the scene pairings of a fairly active porn dude it is stunning how many different chicks some of these guys have fucked (on multiple occasions in some cases)...and that's just professionally.

I remember in the case of one dude when I checked who he worked with and a full screen of chicks popped up who's names started with A....I must have tapped my down arrow key about 10 times and was shocked to find that I was STILL in the fucking As.:shock:
