So I woke up completely fucked this morning.........

Nice knowing you Ulysses31.

It is terrible to read the first post... it shows how wrong the USA are doing.

My advice:

Move out of it and become a citizen of another country, one who offers decent medicare for its people.
You know I'm British right?

The USA are a third-world country in a lot of areas, and medicare is one of them.

America is Number 1???

Brah...he is NOT a Yank.

Also, see my above post. If you are "indigent" you can get $70K bills in the mail every other month and you literally don't have to pay shit and your credit will still be in good order.

How exactly is that treating the poor like shit and how exactly is that "third world"?

The only people getting screwed in America right now are the middle class, and most are covered anyway. The poorest in America have such a good life you cannot understand how good unless you've seen it up front and have lived in a large American city.

It depends where you are. Not so long ago my wife had arm pain, then numbness and dizziness. Despite the fact that it had subsided, they sent out an ambulance for her and took her to hospital for about 8 hours for observation.
Of course, this would probably only be because she's Greek and not English, right daily mail readers? :rofl:

You should really stop citing the daily hate. Other than that you're a great poster.
I do tend to use the Mail a lot (they often have interesting articles I can't find anywhere else) but I don't often post any of their right wing crap, however I needed some articles highlighting the state of the NHS and where better to find some than the Daily Hate. I assume your wife lives and works here so she should get medical treatment and it sounds like she had a genuine emergency. I didn't make it clear enough but my anger is aimed at people who know our system and come to this country just to use our health service because it's free and advanced and with no intention to contributing anything to this country, we have enough of our homegrown leeches and can't afford to medicate Europe, I've heard cases (real cases not newspaper articles) of Eastern European women getting expensive IVF treatment free on the NHS when even British women can't, I'm also annoyed at the types of Eastern Europeans that come here and just drink on the streets which is also where they live as they spend all their money on alcohol, they get themselves taken to the hospital or even police station just for a warm place to stay. :brick:

Once again, sounds like 'Merica. So, so much we have in common, it is indeed true.

Because the US health system is totally fucked up !

BS, Jo, I can have a fire engine staff (including 1 paramedic) and an ambulance at my door in 6 to 8 minutes!
In fact, 8 minutes is the average time it takes for paramedics and ambulance service to arrive at any location in my area... Not bad if you ask me!

I often monitor the fire department radio frequencies in my area with regularity and Uly's condition as he described it would likely have been ordered as a "C" or "Charlie" response (see below). Without question, Uly would have immediately been taken to the hospital under the given circumstances, there's no question in my mind!

Alpha - BLS response without lights and sirens; no ALS;
Bravo - BLS with lights and sirens; no ALS;
Charlie - BLS with lights and sirens; ALS without lights and sirens;
Delta - BLS and ALS with lights and sirens;
Echo - Unresponsive patient - possible coroner's case

Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, and the codes used are the uniform codes found on standard med response call sheets.

The 911 dispatchers in my area are actual employees of either the sheriffs office, the police dept. or the fire dept. ... they don't mess around. if you call in an emergency medical call, they'll often have it dispatched in just 30-40 seconds into your call, they're very determined to get their services out to those in distress.

Uly-

Hope you're feeling better and I hope that you're tenacious about finding out exactly what had occurred overnight. Really, don't let your overburdened healthcare system blow you off as if you were calling over a stubbed toe. My late father was a physician and I always remember him saying that it's better to overestimate the potential seriousness of things we're not sure of, I hope that your local health care professionals will afford you an honest and understandable assessment, i.e. diagnosis/ prognosis of your condition.

Take care, and again, don't let anybody blow you off!
You deserve to get some type of medical evaluation (by an MD) ASAP!

Be well

Ulysses, you need medical advice.

I wake up "completely fucked" most every mornings, but that's due to self-medication the night before!

(I suspect I'm allergic to mornings).

Stay warm.

And I can surely tell you that the lowest class in America is quite well taken care of. In fact, you are better off if you are shit poor than you are if you bust your tail and, like you stated, play by the rules and pay taxes..

News to me. I'm part of the so-called lowest class. I've been out of work since last August; have no health insurance, fuck, I don't even have a car.

If I get sick; I'm fucked.

The only people getting screwed in America right now are the middle class, and most are covered anyway. The poorest in America have such a good life you cannot understand how good unless you've seen it up front and have lived in a large American city.

I wonder where this "good life" is......

Oh! I know!!! It's that goddamn moral compass, and my stupid fucking conscience again. You know; the one that says not to take handouts or exploit the system.

There's still a lot of us out here....those that choose to do the right thing; and just as importantly, not do the wrong thing - just because it's easier.

...just thought I'd remind everyone.

Ulysses; I hope it works out and you get what you need. You don't deserve this bullshit.

Uly, maybe I missed it somewhere, but do you have a preexisting condition with your back?
Were you ever in a serious accident, i.e. have you ever been a trauma or i.c.u. patient?

I don't know your financial situation and I have never had a problem with you on here, nor do I intend to now. I may be off on my statement, but maybe it's my state????

GAMC is readily available to pretty much anyone who qualifies here. Depending on your situation, your premiums can be a couple dollars a month and medicines are no more than a couple dollars for a month supply.

As far as "indigent" individuals, how the fuck are they going to pay anyway? I already know a friend who received a $70K bill (for something I won't get into) and he paid NOTHING, notta. Credit is still in order. Furthermore, he has free room and board downtown and receives a (small) payment monthly and EBS. Again, this may be a local thing. Our state is, afterall, one of the most "liberal" in the country, which is probably why we rank at the head in most every poll in things of this nature.

IMO, I have really not too much problem with this, IF - I repeat, IF - people from all over the country didn't relocate here to rape our generations here, AND they didn't make a life out of it, but it has been abused to the point that makes most nauseated, much like our European friends.

I may be off on some of this because I am not in this system, but I've known enough kids on the streets, met enough people on the streets, and know how unbelievably bad it can be abused.

No; as far as I know, it's pretty much the same here. I was only saying; in a roundabout attempt-at-humor kind of way, that not everyone under a certain income level is "living the good life" by taking wrongful advantage of the system that supposed to help people get back on their feet...not sustain them.

In other words; I agree with you, but there's still people that don't abuse the system.

For sure. I've seen quite a bit growing up over here on the East Side, and, rightly or wrongly, I have learned a number of things, both good and bad. There are so many scams and so many scammers it's just insane. Really though if you know how to milk it, you can milk it. That's why my father wanted me to get into social services, so I could weed out some of the bullshit. Being a social worker would be a good way to get at the snakes and weed them out. I'm all for helping out our needy but I find "lifers" utterly despicable and criminal.

I'm not in County social services or that whole system that cries for tax dollars but I have family that are; it's a total racket. It's abused so much and tolerated so liberally that really the best America has to offer are the ones who ultimately suffer.

Do you feel better now Uly?
Hi the sudden back pain seemed to resolve itself within hours but my body don't feel right, digestive system seems all over the place so maybe it was acid or something, I've literally just woken up (it's 4:40am) and other than throat feeling a bit funny the pain not there, my biggest worry was waking up the same way today again although I plan on going back to bed in a minute :weeping:

Uly, maybe I missed it somewhere, but do you have a preexisting condition with your back?
Were you ever in a serious accident, i.e. have you ever been a trauma or i.c.u. patient?
Nah mate I can honestly say of all the shitty problems I've ever had my back has been spared, maybe it's just the extreme occurence of acid or something but very worrying if it is as that pain was so bad I thought it needed immediate surgery and couldn't believe when it went away itself, now I'm gonna be worried every time I go to bed in case I wake up the same way again. Makes me wonder how painful something like a heart attack will be :dunno:

ps Thanks for all the advice and well wishes guys it's much appreciated :glugglug:

^... Now that I think about it, I do recall having a bedtime incident involving my back...

...It happened several years ago when I had come down with the dreaded flu and was bed ridden for about four consecutive days. After the first 48 hours had passed, I began to get fatigued, particularly in the area of my upper rear torso area. As the third and fourth days progressed, I became increasingly restless and my back became achy to the point that it took considerable effort and time to actually get on my feet. In fact, toward the end of my illness (Day 4), I recall waking up having some difficulty breathing... and when I tried to move, I just damn plain couldn't, it was bizarre! I think it took me about 15 minutes and a great deal of concentration just to get my butt to the edge of the bed and have my feet flat on the hardwood floor ...and another courageous 5 minutes to get on my feet.

So there I was, acting the part of The Hunchback of Notre Dame... it wouldn't be long until I'd be back to my regular self. :cool:
