Simple question: Are you happy with the direction of the country (U.S.)?

Are you happy/agree with the direction of the country?

Whether you are a liberal, conservative, independent or other...

Whether you are a Democrat, Republican, independent or other...

It doesn't matter if you're a Republican/independent who hates Obama and that's why you're unhappy/happy about the direction of the country or if you're a Democrat/independent who hates the TEA party's influence and that's why you're unhappy/happy about the direction of the country. Please give your reasons, if you care to - or don't. But are you happy/agree with where you think we are headed?

Thanks.

P.S. Since this is an international board, if you're not from the U.S., vote anyway. But list the country that you're talking about in your post.

This is to binary for me to give a good answer. I'm happy about certain things, but not others. I think it a bit simplistic to say "I'm happy with the direction the country is headed." That's true of foreign policy, health care, voting rights, same sex marriage, congress, the economy, and racial discrimination?

To give an approximation of an answer, I'd have to say that yes, I'm happy with the direction of the country - the economy has begun a slow recovery, jobs are being created slowly, and soldiers are coming home. If we could change the pace at which that was all happening, that'd be great, thanks.

Forced to choose yea or nay....gotta choose nay. Polarization seems to be getting more and more pronounced. Ineffective, stagnated government. Special interest influence is greater than ever. Which ever "side" you're on, our so-called "leaders" throw all the right (or left) buzz-words at you in order to get your vote. After that, it's "fuck you" until it's time for reelection. In the meantime, they stuff their pockets. Too much apathy amongst the general constituency. Mistrust, self-interest and skepticism reign supreme. The system is rotten to the core.

For a long time now, the government has been a pawn of the rich. It used to be somewhat hidden. Now, maybe because of the internet, there is just too much being done to keep the rich rich and the poor down. No one was lining up to bail out the Mom and Pop general store when Wal-Mart came to town, but the government sure didn't mind bailing out inept businessmen in charge of the international banking world. for the next five years, insider trading and other white-collar crimes should be punishable by death. That might help clean things up.

No...and I haven't been through the reign of both parties. Although some have pissed me off more then others.

Gridlock is a hallmark of the American experiment in representative democracy, unfortunately the gridlock is merely pitting monied interest against monied interest, and no one really represents the people.

Like the great George Carlin once said "There's a club and you and I aren't in it."

Obama's is way too much right-leaning, he needs to be more liberal

Yea, I'd say I'm happy. I'm not using government as one of my happys. I think the people's divisiveness is important and encouraging. More information is being provided where the people can react. I know that the flood during the past decades has lots of shit in it. But consider that people are getting it. It's a 60 second news cycle now and people are getting involved in it. Before cable TV it was 3 networks and PBS. AP, UPI, and Reuters in the papers plus your local reporters. We got nothing more than the state of the nation and none of what goes on behind the scenes.

We are nothing short of news now even at the local level. The black and whites staining our fingers has been replaced by the news notices. The news industry has adjusted to this and didn't collapse. People are supplementing the networks and news feeds, not reducing their consumption of news. I an encouraged by this because enough voices can make changes.

True. But I asked it that way so it would be similar to the national polls that ask the same/similar question. Just curious about how people feel on balance.

The President is a clown.
The congress is controlled by asshats like Ryan.
We lose more and more of our freedoms every day because all the little sheep are afraid.....
My country is turning into a Marx Bros movie.

Hey dumbfuck, the Obama administration spied on more private citizens than any administration in history.

You lost a ton of your civil liberties under him.
