Significance of the heart shaped tan spot

I've seen a lot of models that have a heart shaped design right above where the bikini line would be, on their lower abdomens and off to the side. It looks like everywhere but that spot was tanned.

Does anyone know what this is supposed to mean or is it just something common amongst girls working in the adult entertainment industry?

I don't think there is any significance to the heart shape other than it is a good, but simple shape that is easy to use - better than a square, triangle or circle, but still a simple and recognisable shape relating to sex.
