what the fuck you lookin at?
i prefer 1st person.

i feel that it can become a little more realistic and, if you try hard enough, you can put yourself in the situation that's taking place on the screen more so.

with the 3rd person, you can't help but see the character you're playing as and it's harder to get lost in the game. it's not you, but rather someone else that you're controlling.

3rd person is just less realistic, imo.

yea 3rd person is less realistic. I finally got CoD5 from gamefly a few days ago, and there is so much shit going on that you really feel like your part of the war. Its WWII which has been done to death, but honestly it feels like they finally did WWII the right way for once! At the end of really all the levels I'm like "damn, that was intense!" If it were 3rd person it wouldn't be any where near that involving. I've never felt that into a game when I'm playing gears for instance!

3rd person. I can't really play FPS games, for some reason I start to feel sick in about 10mins if I play one. It's not about violence or gore, but the way the screen seems to move (not the screen itself but everything on it).

I thought this was about cumshots for a minute. For games it's first person, for me in bed it's first person, for porn it's third.

Yup I love Bioshock but I am playing Call of Duty modern warfare right now!

wow for some odd reason i find this very hot that you play video games
btw i love that game call of duty moder warfare2 is coming out tjis fall i cant wait

For me, it depends on the game. I remember when I first started playing "Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II" it was 1st person with all of the main weapons, but whenever I did lightsaber combat, I'd switch to 3rd person.

I also like to play as a sniper a lot, and I've gotten so comfortable looking through a scope all the time, I'd just rather stay in one spot and pick people off left and right.

Any advice for using the sniper rifle? I can't seem to ever get good with that damn thing.

1st person. I wish someone would work out the peripheral vision thing, but it's more realistic. If you're ducking behind something in a FPS, you can't see anything. In games like Gears, you're hiding behind a wall and you can still shoot accurately over it.

FPS is more immersive while "TPS" (is that really an acronym? I've never seen that used before...>_>) has the ability to be more cinematic, I guess (though Half-Life did a great job of that as a FPS)...I think FPS is a bit better for online PvP situations while 3rd Person is more suited for the story-driven shooter...So, in the end, the answer is: Depends (just like when you get older & lose bowel control!)! But I usually prefer FPSs.

My favs are still the oldschool topdown or sidescrolling shooter genre (which is really a completely different genre all-together)...1942! GRADIUS!! RAIDEN!!! :p

:1orglaugh at depends

Classic side scroll, nice!
Contra anyone?

You make some good points, I didn't even consider the cinematic aspect of the third person. Thinking back gears and gears 2 are pretty cinematic. But then again so is Halo 3. But the CoD games are not. I think the cinematic might have more to do with what the developer was trying to do with the game. But I do agree with the pvp thing and FPS being superior in that regard. I'm hooked on Gears 2 multiplayer even though it pisses me off every time I play. But its no where near as good as CoD online!

the only thing for me is adjusting to one after i've been playing the other, but after playing for a bit i kind of forget if it's first or third and just get into the game. unless the game sucks, of course.

was thinking of getting CoD5. sounds fun!

FPS's are tons of fun, especially when you play split-screen or LAN on a console.

Then again, I haven't had too much experience with TPS's other the Gears of War. I have to admit that was also entertaining.
