Dude, you really haven't been paying attention. Cheaper & crappier starts chipping away at the good stuff, then it aspires to do better, then it finally gets good enough to **** what came before it, then then it gets too full of itself, then another cheaper/crappier thing comes along and the cycle starts again.

Some people just like the raw, amatuer-like feel to it. Has a certain personal, voyeur quality to it that some folks dig. That's why we do both the slick-looking high-rez video stuff and the grittier, less glammy webcam stuff like this.
