That was my grandparents, I was twice in France (Paris) and I was very friendly.
The only stupid situation was when I forgot to take my cap off when walking into Notre Dame. They have a guy at the portal that just knocks off hats, caps etc. right there, and I was a little off guard, but he was right to do so.

Freedom can be obtained without guns. Ask Gandhi, ask Aung San Suu Kyi, ask the poeple who witnessed the portuguese Carnation Revolution, the moldavian Rose Revolution, the ukrainian Orange Revolution, etc... Thjse people freed themselves from tyranny and they didn't used guns.

India and Burma are not present day free societies with a constitution or bill of rights but I do respect the approach of nonviolent activism that was practiced by the former as well as Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks to name a few
