the "gimmick" has been surpassed by award winning writing and acting...
everyone knows that Jack will save the day...it's just HOW he's gonna do it...this show set the bar and others have come along trying to copy it's style
got my 24-hard-on ready to go!!!
When they came up with the concept for the show they probably didn't know how long it was going to last, and it's too late to change the name of the show now. It would be interesting if they played it out over a week though.

thats what i meant. honestly, how many times can one person save the world in only 24 hours. a week, id get into that. its more believable.

I don't think they are striving to make it any more believable than "Lost", "Prison Break" or any James Bond film for that matter...
the idea of an well written, action packed cliffhanger every week with great characters and plot twists have made me a devout fan...but to each his own..

I'm gonna have to disagree with you about it being the best show"hands down". I tried to get into it the first season. I missed a couple of episodes and tried to get back into it but it was too late, I was lost. That's what's wrong with Lost(amongst other things like a whithering plotline)and Alias was like that too.
I know I could rent the DVDs, but it's too late,I'm commited to other shows and I have enough on my plate as it is.
By the way, the best show on TV "hands down" is The Shield,end of debate.:glugglug:

I've already seen the first 4 episodes, and i can safely say it is very very good.
The only flaw is im not into any of the new characters (except for one, who becomes Jacks buddy, you'll see who i mean)
