She's not the first and she hasn't gone mainstream. She is a porn actress who has gotten a role in a non porn movie. That's not mainstream.
Getting a role in a non porn movie is a start but you still have to support yourself so unless she has a ton of scripts laying at her door or a contract with a studio, she'll still likely do porn IMO.
There have been a few porn actors and actresses who have gotten roles in non porn movies but the only one I can think of who could be considered as having gone "mainstream" would be Traci Lords.

why is everyone on about her all of the sudden? you never heard anything about her a year ago, outside of your average porn publication, and she was doing the same exact shit- which is nothing that wasn't done upped by belladonna.

Could be as a result of her being on the Tyra banks show. That might have caught Soderbergh's attention.
James Gunn cast her in one of his bloody comedy/PG porn/ films. I canceled him on my myspace after watching his stuff. I might like some odd stuff, but I do not think people being laughed at while they bleed to death is funny.
To give the, er, devil his due - Sasha did do well. You should know by now an actor does well where there is a good director.
If the future is blood, smashed bodies, sex and comedy then I am so seriously the frell outta this entire scene once for all.
But, ya, even Nautica Thorn was cast in a movie, as, surprise, a hooker. Some Steven Segal thing.
