Steven Soderbergh, who has always been known to cast untrained actors in his films, has cast porn star Sasha Grey to star in his next film THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE. The film will star Grey as a high-priced call girl who commands big money to act as a girlfriend to her wealthy clientele. Grey began working in the porno business at the age of 18 and while filming her very first scene, shocked a co-star by asking to be punched in the stomach while she performed oral sex (WOW). Grey has gone on to win the Best Three Way Sex Scene, Best Group Scene and Female Performer of the Year at the AVN awards. Unlike most porn stars she mentions Jean-Luc Godard and David Bowie and her biggest influences. GIRLFRIEND was written by ROUNDERS and OCEAN'S 13 writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien. Soderbergh is currently filming the indie flick in New York City and will be released next year by Magnolia Pictures.

Mrs Grey is in a difficult position. If she gives a great performance, then it's because she *is* the role, everyday - in the adult industry. Therefore, it's no great thing. If she's not great, then it's because she's a porn star. It only reinforces the idea that porn stars cannot act.

I'm 85% sure that Mrs. Grey was hired because porn stars can be paid less than even B-movie actresses for nonadult movies. Still, accepting a big role in a Soderbergh movies will place her in front of casting director's eyes.

Regarding Lords, she cannot go between porn and nonadult, so, in my opinion, should not count. In that sense, Mrs Grey *could* blaze trails.
