the bb512 was cooler looking, especially the la mans made one. the 288 GTO was a tuned edition of the 308, which was a rally car competing in the group b, where also was porsche 911 and the lancia stratos, using the 308 engine . lambo's are cool, nothing beats the countach 25th anni and the diablo SV, but why lambo was always so scared on racing, like ferrari and porsche do? ferrari was always king of F1 and porsche was king of La Mans, what did lambo win?

Lamborghini has tried racing several times but has never really had the money to compete at a high level. They've been bought and sold several times and gone through bankruptcy over the years. Now, under VW, maybe they will do some serious racing. But Audi and Porsche are the main VW Group racing brands - so who knows? Back in the late 80's/early 90's, when they were still owned by Chrysler, Lambo developed a V12 F1 engine. I have the diecast model (which is really cool) but I can't remember the specific details. But Aryton Senna tested it for McLaren and he seemed to like it. He wanted to use it. But for whatever reason, Ron Dennis opted to go for the (dreadful) Peugeot V10 hand grenade engine - one of the greatest mosquito killers in the history of F1. Oil smoke from those Peugeots killed every skeeter within 20 miles of every race track where they exploded. Chrysler sold Lambo the next year and that was about it as far as racing.

If the BB512 had been a woman, I would have tried to marry the first one I ever saw. Gorgeous car! Sweet engine! Maybe not a classic Ferrari, but I liked it too.

Since this has turned into a bit of an automotive thread, I will mention that my childhood dream, before I learnt about eco-damage, was one of these:

Dunno, I don't normally get wistful for cars. Could be 'cos I sold my Audi yesterday. Lovely people I sold it to, so I left some flowers on the rear parcel shelf and gave 'em some champers to celebrate with.

the jaguar xj 220 was a masterpiece, however it was weak, 550hp, but did go fast.
the lotus has handling and acceleration, but not a top speed, no matter how much i like the lotus, i'd still stuck to tuners, they are more reliable and get better performance.
