US foreign policy, especially w/ regards to the Middle East, has been at best "shortsighted" from the beginning, and there are many examples of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" ideology from history. Unfortunately, it's still going on today.

While I could criticize Reagan as much as anybody he did take up a cause which I care about very deeply and make it his own, that being anti-communism. I know many criticized his famous "Evil Empire" quote when it came out, but I would have said the same thing he did. I certainly did not agree with many of Reagan's methods, but there is evil in the world and I'm glad he didn't put some sort of PC spin on what was evil. For that, I salute him.

Georgez, I must say that you're starting off (not necessarily in a good way) at FreeOnes with a "bang." Here's a little helpful, constructive criticism, Georgez... This is NOT a flame and it's not "fighting words." I abhor that nonsense.

It's o.k. to speak your mind, but don't just talk **** just for the sake of "talking ****." Substantiate your bullshit (and for God's sake, check your spelling before you post) at least.

Secondly, I am sorry that you did not understand my reference to "the button." "The button" was the NUCLEAR BOMBS, man. How that was able to slip under your radar is beyond me, but it did. In the 1980s, we were under constant threat of nuclear armageddon, but perhaps you were not born yet or too young to be able to wrap your head around such a thing/idea.

Anyway...when I said Reagan didn't "push the button," I meant that he didn't launch us into the world of nuclear disaster, although he COULD have.

I'm not even a Reagan fan, but I feel grief that he died and I feel grief for his ******. Death ALWAYS hurts survivors.

May he rest in peace.

Peace and Cheers to all!

I **** to correct you here Nightfly, but georgez is actually an old member... older than our georges infact.

Anyhoo, I never studied Reagan much, but it's sad that he died.

Not so much being insenstive, I just don't care. I always love how you never say postitive points about a person until after they die. Reagan was not the best President by a long shot. I would say the best ones were Lincoln and FDR, at least they did postitive things for the US. So Reagan put a stop to the Cold War, big deal it was just the US sticking its nose where it didn't belong, kinda like today.

I did say I hope he rests in peace, because I believe Altzeimers is one of the worse diseases a person can die from, because its so personal familywise. Yes i know people will argue what about AIDS and cancer?? Which I agree with also because any disease is horrible

ahem, a man just died...lets not stir up a verbal war in his name...I doubt his soul would be able to reach eternal peace

btw...lmao nightfly, georgez is a veteran in comparison to you ;) ...hence, Georgez > Nightfly

Peace

:( Well atleast he made it to 93. most men don't make it that far.

Last Chance, you my friend have said the most idiotic thing of the day...Cold War, big deal?

Yea the Cold War didnt shape anything during 1945-1991...no impact on anything what so ever. Im sure all those countries would have rather been communist and run by Stalin than defended by the US. Wow. I cant even explain how dumb you are.
