Robert Downey Jr controversy

How come I don't remember a fuss when some of the Wayans brothers went white for the classic "White Chicks"?

Or John Travolta for playing a woman in "Hairspray". Anyway, I read more about this subject and from what I read Robert Downey Jr. is playing a white actor who is so over the top that he does "blackface" for a role. The movie is a satire on over the top actors. I still stand by my argument though and think there are other things in this world to worry about that are far worse than Robert Downey Jr. doing his job which is acting.

He's an actor, he's acting. That's his job.
Anyway, here is the first trailer for Tropic Thunder.

Looks like it might be pretty good http://www.tropicthunder.com/teaser.swf

I'm a little late, but I am of native American descent, and I do not find Redskins, Braves, or any other thing offensive. The only thing I find offensive are the people that whine about being "offended". Fuck, cry about it, get over it, and move on.

Then why should anyone be offended or take legal action if they are fired because of their color and so on?

Racial slurs aren't acceptable and niether is discrimination because of someone's cultural heritage.

I have Cherokee ancestors and I do find the slurs offensive.

I read the thread title and just thought "Oh... another Robert *sniff sniff, shoot shoot" Downey Jr controversy"

But this one's actually about his *job* this time. Wow.

The article I read was complete bullshit and a sad form of PR to hype this film. It has nothing to do with offending African Americans and/or Black actors. As they saying goes...any type of publicity is good publicity.

Nothing more.
