SANTA CRUZ -- Those familiar with ******-rights groups say extremists have long been operating in Santa Cruz. But even after one of the nation's most dramatic attacks by alleged ******-rights activists here Saturday, getting at their identities is not easy.
Investigators say those behind the firebombing of a UC Santa Cruz biologist's home are likely part of a loosely organized ******-rights movement that has stepped up efforts to protest ******-based research throughout the University of California system.
