Retired pornstar you'd like to come back ?

Is there a difference between retiring from porn and merely quitting the business of porn? Retiring kind of implies a long, successful career, is there really any such thing in porn, except for an elite few? And of course the term porn "star", that's got a lot of wiggle room, doesn't it? How many performers can actually claim "star" status? I don't know, I can't imagine very many of them earning a sustainable income, too many amateurs willing to peel off their panties and fuck on camera for whatever token penance they might make per scene. At any rate, there's been some pretty hot babes do the nasty on camera over the years that I wouldn't mind seeing some updated material from. Transitioning to a "normal" life from fucking on camera doesn't seem like much more than a disappearing act for most of them, kind of like, "ok, I fucked on camera a few times, made a little spending money, but now I'm done, leave me the fuck alone.", the fucking carries on, just off camera, like any other person, hot or not so hot, it's the "studios', content producers that make all the money.

I don't know, but I've seen a bunch of porn girls whine about how they make little money and when you combine that with their claims to be in porn for money, that makes even less sense than their claims to like porn. I'd think that they'd be doing something else if they really wanted to work for their money over being faces deep in shit, banging their heads to the wall and having too big ego to give up for not making any money? Work neither has anything to do with having fun, that's your luck if you can make money while having fun. Work is all about getting that meat on the table and one has to get hands dirty to hunt a bear, unless you want to bite the dust... just because something is fun doesn't mean it's going to be profitable and when girls themselves are the product, they should stop whining like cheap bitches (wait, what?) throwing hypocritical insults to every direction when dudes pick a better product than what they have to offer...

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Anonyne#017 again.

Well put. I'm always interested in a bit of insight into the world of porn performers after porn. I didn't use the term porn "star", because very few of them are stars in any real sense of the word. It seems that most of them just kind of want to forget about it, those that haven't passed this plane of existence at least. The others, rare few these, put it right out front so that they can't be sabotaged by someone in their lives with a bit of enterprising background curiosity. I'm not sure of the real lure of performing in porn, a quick easy buck, most likely, but it's not in any way sustainable, the "studios", content producers, smut peddlers, whatever you want to call them don't seem to be concerned about what's next for the individual performer, just who's next to slide those panties off and peel back some foreskin. Can't really blame most of them for leaving, disappearing, and never looking back.

We are in an interesting period in porn now. Put simply, it's a transitional phase, because there's no "household names" anymore, and there's a lot of indicators saying that there won't be in the future. It seems to be headed towards Clips4Sale, cam sites, and niche marketing. I don't think it's dying by any means, just evolving. I also think that the big-name huge studios of the past are going the way of the dinosaur. Granted, I don't really pay too much attention to "the industry", but that's my impression from what I do see.

P.S. Why is it every goddamn time I click on the sections of this board to look up a favorite (I wanted to see if Freeones listed Gianna Michaels as 'retired' - as far as I know, she isn't. ) I get a message saying it's a bad request/403 error? EVERY GODDAMN TIME!? )

40,000 babes listed on FreeOnes, about the same in another database I frequently use (indexxx), and probably about the same in others. Lots and lots of panty dropping going on, less and less money I would imagine to be made from the standard business model. Evolution, progression, changing of the business, no doubt, we're in the middle of it!

..and there's only going to be a few names left among the ashes.

Just to clarify, who is the her you are referring to? I would love to know what Nikki Dial is currently doing, I do an internet search at least once a year looking for anything new from her, I search both her performing name and her real name, but I haven't come across anything new on her since around 2008 or 2009. I suppose she's retreated into real life somewhere and doesn't want any unsolicited attention, I can understand that, but damn would I love to see how well she's aged, a lot of performers look as good or better than they did when they were active in the porn industry, others, yeah, time hasn't been so kind.
