One may think what one wants about porn, but as things happen to be, there is porn in the world, and some of us get off on it. The main ingredients in porn are usually beautiful girls who show us almost every part of their bodies and do all kinds of exciting stuff with them - FOR OUR VIEWING PLEASURE.

Sadly, these gorgeous girls are often referred to in a very demeaning language (in threads at FreeOnes and elsewhere); as "sluts", "whores", "cunts", or what have you (and some people even seem to regard them as mere things to be treated in any manner, who exist only for their sake). But these girls (and every other woman and girl, for that matter) are all human beings with the same human value as any person, and they have the same rights and deserve the same respect as any human being (and perhaps even more respect from us, since they are essential to the pleasure we get from porn). They just happen to make a living on showing their bodies and having sex. That does not reduce them to objects or make them less of subjects! (Even if some of them are spanked, spitted on and even pissed on in videos, that does not mean they deseve to be spanked, spitted and pissed on in real life - videos depict role-playing and appeal to fantasy, real life does not!)

It is bad enough that some people within porn industry encourage and use this language about these girls, but WE, who obviously like them, should treat and talk about them with the respect they deserve!

All of you have mothers, and some of you have sisters or daughters; think about that before you show disrespect towards any girl!

It might be hard to give respect in that aspect... but we all gotta work, some just chose to do it in a different way.... Respect must be earned though, like you said it starts with the self..... Just have to make sure your mindset is right.

I might respect a few handful of people in the industry. I only respect people that have earned my respect. Now, I don't automatically look down on somebody just because they are in porn and I have no problem with giving them a fair chance. I will treat them as an individual because everybody deserves at least that. However, keep in mind that a lot of the stereotypes about the people in the industry are there for a reason. A good number of people in the business have not only not earned any respect in my opinion, but have shown they probably they do deserve to be ridiculed, and knowing how a lot of those people are, barring a miracle turnaround in the personality and ethic, they will probably never earn any respect. I think it's also hard to accurate give respect when all you make yourself know about them is an image on the screen or a page on the Internet. That's often a far cry from what some of them they truly act like. Just because people act nice and pleasant when money is involved doesn't mean they are really that way.

just because it is accepted doesn't mean that it's not derogatory. Anyone with self respect wouldn't think that being called a whore or a slut was a compliment. Just like some black people knows that N* means an ignorant and disrespectful person, so they will use it as a derogatory expression, albeit not racist in that case, and not towards their friends.

I don't think it's right, but it's usually the case that if you are being called those things, it's because they apply to you in a negative way and that is most likely tied into the fact that you think it's a good thing to be that.

Alot of it is society's point of view. Pornstars don't get much respect because over the years, porn has been (usually) viewed as a form of prostitution (getting paid to have sex). Things like losing virginity and having sex with so many men have just been viewed negatively by society. Since sex has been defined very strictly; sex only after marriage, I think many people just view porn stars as "sluts" or "whores" who just want money.

I, of course respect those in the porn industry because they are human and have rights too.

The sex in porn movies is very real. "Regular" Hollywood chicks play roles to simulate a different person, but when someone is fucking for a camera, and I mean really actually having sex, those are real sex acts.

personally, porn has given me immense amounts of pleasure, and i have lost NO respect for any woman i have watched perform. in fact, i think i have learnt to appreciate different kinds of female beauty more... i remember before i ever saw porn, as a young teenager, i thought only skinny models with "perfect" skin were attractive... now with porn, i have widened my horizons.

It's probably because many people look down on sex and see it just as a "tool" for reproduction. Many people think porn stars just abuse sex, thus the terms "sluts" and "whores" :dunno:.
