Requiring people to get a licence if they want to buy and carry guns is safer

Man arrested at Disneyland Paris with two handguns

French police arrested a man carrying two handguns at the Disneyland Paris amusement park outside Paris on Thursday, an interior ministry official said.

A police source said the 28-year-old man of European origin had been carrying the two guns, including an automatic handgun, concealed in a bag that also contained a copy of the Koran religious text and ammunition.

The armed man's bag set off a security alarm as he went through a metal detector at the popular park’s high-end Hotel New York, the police source said.

The man was unknown to the police or intelligence services prior to the incident, and the police source said the preliminary investigation did not point to terrorism. He reportedly claimed to be carrying the guns because he feared for his safety.

Papers found on the suspect indicate that he lives in Paris, but no further details were given.

The theme park remains open despite the incident.

France on high alert

Disneyland Paris is situated about 30kms (18 miles) east of the French capital and is among Europe's most popular tourist destinations. About 10 million people visited in 2014, according to the Global Attractions Attendance Report.

France remains on a high state of alert with a state of emergency in place following the Paris attacks on November 13, when Islamic State group militants ****** 130 people in a series of shootings and suicide bombings across the French capital.

In January 2015, Paris saw three days of ****** as a series of attacks left 17 people dead, including a deadly ****** on the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo.

Due to France's ***-control policy (In France you need a licence to buy and carry guns), the man was arrested. If France had the same *** legislation than the US, the man wouldn't have been arrested and he would probably have opened fire in the park.

When law abiding citizens are required to get licence if they are to purchase and carry guns, law-enforcement ****** can be almost 100% sure that someone who's carrying a *** without any licence is up to no good. When licences aren't required, it's more difficult to detemine who are the good guys with guns and who are the bad guys with guns.
