Requiring people to get a licence if they want to buy and carry guns is safer

Man arrested at Disneyland Paris with two handguns

French police arrested a man carrying two handguns at the Disneyland Paris amusement park outside Paris on Thursday, an interior ministry official said.

A police source said the 28-year-old man of European origin had been carrying the two guns, including an automatic handgun, concealed in a bag that also contained a copy of the Koran religious text and ammunition.

The armed man's bag set off a security alarm as he went through a metal detector at the popular park’s high-end Hotel New York, the police source said.

The man was unknown to the police or intelligence services prior to the incident, and the police source said the preliminary investigation did not point to terrorism. He reportedly claimed to be carrying the guns because he feared for his safety.

Papers found on the suspect indicate that he lives in Paris, but no further details were given.

The theme park remains open despite the incident.

France on high alert

Disneyland Paris is situated about 30kms (18 miles) east of the French capital and is among Europe's most popular tourist destinations. About 10 million people visited in 2014, according to the Global Attractions Attendance Report.

France remains on a high state of alert with a state of emergency in place following the Paris attacks on November 13, when Islamic State group militants killed 130 people in a series of shootings and suicide bombings across the French capital.

In January 2015, Paris saw three days of terror as a series of attacks left 17 people dead, including a deadly attack on the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo.

French President François Hollande is seeking to extend the state of emergency for another three months despite strong opposition

Due to France's gun-control policy (In France you need a licence to buy and carry guns), the man was arrested. If France had the same gun legislation than the US, the man wouldn't have been arrested and he would probably have opened fire in the park.

When law abiding citizens are required to get licence if they are to purchase and carry guns, law-enforcement forces can be almost 100% sure that someone who's carrying a gun without any licence is up to no good. When licences aren't required, it's more difficult to detemine who are the good guys with guns and who are the bad guys with guns.

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
You're such a fuckwit. First of all, dumbass. I would bet there's a nice big sign at EVERY Disney park that prohibits concealed carry. Secondly, if there isn't, then he didn't break the law. And thirdly, and the best part, he was in YOUR FUCKED up country, WITH GUNS, and he had a copy of the koran in his possession....religion of peace, and so forth....so, to sum up. Your shithole country has a problem with whacked out muslims trying to shoot shit up to, except all of your citizens have to rely on is a military that surrenders, and a legal system that protects low life murderers and baby rapers from extradition to the place that needs to execute them.

Once again, STFU--GTFO, and worry about your sewage hole of a country.

^ Hits all the key points and sums things up nicely. Free men don't ask permission to exercise their rights.

He DID broke the law, even thouht there's no big sign prohibiting guns at Disneyland Paris 'cause this my country, it is illegal to carry guns without a conceal-carry licence. He broke the law by carrying a gun without such licence.

In this country, it's easy to spot good guys with guns from bad guys wih guns : good guys have a licence, bad guys do not. In this country, we have a problem with radical muslim terrorists, that's true. But it's only a few years old probelm. In your country, you have a problem with mass-qhootings, a decades old problem.
Wether you like it or not, gun control solve more problems with it creates

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
You speak as if there is one law in the United States which governs all firearms ownership or possession. There is not. Chicago, for instance, requires a license to own or possess a handgun. And yet, the firearms related homicide rate in Chicago is much higher than the norm.

there are already laws against murdering someone, whether with a gun or not.

there are laws prohibiting drunk driving. yet, drunk driving deaths are an epidemic in the U.S.

how about upping the penalties for the laws that are already on the books? you take a shot at someone, you meant to kill them but you just happen to be a bad shot. attempted murder - mandatory life sentence. you murder someone - mandatory death penalty.

our more enlightened (read: liberal) supreme court justices look to international jurisprudence when interpreting our laws. Why don't they appeal to say, indonesia's philosophy when it comes to violent crime or crime in general? the indonesians are after all non-white AND muslim. it's a two-fer.

someone put to death is guaranteed not to re-offend. so it's a 100% effective deterrent for that person.

but i digress.

The most surprising thing to me about this article...

There's a Disneyland in PARIS?!?!?! :dunno:

I'm surprised France allows citizens to own guns. I thought it was more of an enlightened country than that.

If France surrendered in WWII to the Nazis, what did the U.S. do in Vietnam? Can someone remind me.....

There's so much retardation in your post that I don't know where to begin. But you're in Florida and if that's taught the world anything it's that Florida needs to be ignored.

What makes you think my view or response is shared with the majority of Floridians?

I will answer my original question: France surrendered to the Nazis and somehow still gets mocked for that where as the U.S. ran with tail between legs out of Vietnam (a la surrender) and yet now Vietnam is a most valued trading partner nation. I guess we only are against commie countries if they are a threat to beating our military? Oh, wait, Vietnam.....whoops!
