How effective is the Report Button?

I've repeatedly reported violations of the board rules using the said feature ...

... but alas! Nothing has happened: ******* sites are still being linked to; five link-rule violations haven't been corrected; excessive picture posting / hotlinking hasn't been rectified.

What's the use of the report feature, if the mods don't pay attention to it in the first place?

The report function is very effective. It's just when members submit 10 - 15 consecutive reports (no exaggeration one day this week) about posts from anywhere between 1 to 12 months ago, some tend to get lost in the onslaught of past indiscretions. You question whether we are paying attention to the report feature. In fact, most of the reported posts do get corrected and maybe a few of yours fell by the wayside, which has led this to being some major problem in your eyes. It's not.

We appreciate all efforts in trying to help eliminate violations of the rules. Sometimes a few fall through the cracks. It's inevitable on a board this size.

In addition to the report button on the message board here, the report link button in the babe sections on the main site is also very effective.

Just remember to actually write WHAT is wrong with the link (if there's no option for it) otherwise those of us that go through it have no idea, don't see anything wrong and will put it back.

I tend to report a lot of violations also, since I am on the board so much. For the record, I try to only report recent infractions. I feel your explanation is certainly more than adequate, A&J. Sometimes I think I am being bothersome by using the button somewhat often, but I am very glad to hear that you appreciate our efforts to help address these violations.

I use it then its needed most times its take care of when I do report something.
