Rep. Alan Grayson wants critic to serve 5 years in jail

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.), prone for throwing his own political bombs at Republicans, has threatened a local critic with five years in jail for creating the website “mycongressmanisnuts.com,”

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Grayson wrote a letter this week to Attorney General Eric Holder demanding that the federal government imprison Republican activist Angie Langley for five years because of her website criticizing him.

In fact, U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson of Orlando took such offense at a parody website aimed at unseating him that the freshman Democrat has asked that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder investigate the Lake County activist who started the anti-Grayson website “mycongressmanisnuts.com.”

Specifically, Grayson accuses Republican activist Angie Langley of lying to federal elections. His four-page complaint highlights the fact that the Clermont resident lives outside his district, but that Langley still uses the term “my” in “mycongressmanisnuts.com.”

Here is his complaint to AG Eric Holder:

Considering how Grayson can say, criticize, or just be crude what and how he sees fit to Republicans or about Republicans, someone talks bad about him he wants them in jail for five years!

You know, I want to hate him and support her, but he has a point. Creating the website as a matter of free speech is one thing. But when she became a political fundraiser, she entered a whole different territory, regulated by Federal law and upheld as Constitutional by the Supreme Court. And his points are valid: she isn't his constituent and she did single him out. Does she deserve 5 years in prison? Absolutely not. But a fine and a good scare? Probably.

Free speech and we can criticize anyone we want.

Especially the ones who need it.

So, what this guy wants is treason. :nono:

Not even close...nowhere does she claim he is HER Congressman, it's the name of the site...and as a Florida resident his voting as a Florida rep affects her state, not just his specific district.
As well, nowhere did I see where they are raising money for a candidate...so how is she a political fundraiser? Donations for the site and funding grassroots political activity is not "fundraising" and she isn't guilty of anything more than a rational dislike of Grayson, and who wouldn't despise such a rude wingnut (excluding UberLibs like titsrock) for his irrational and insulting behaviour on the House floor?
I love the site, and the fact that CrazyAlan has sent them into the national spotlight so they can get a shitload of support.

Its not just the website's name. She represented herself as a constituent of Grayson's in multiple TV and radio interviews, even though she is not. If she had say, "Hey I'm not one of his constituents, but his decisions still represent me as a Floridian, and I created this website to give his constituents a voice," that would be fine. But she didn't.

She became a political fundraiser when she filed with the Federal Election Commission as one. And she broke Federal law when she stated in that registration that her committee would be used to "support or oppose more than one candidate" and then plastered the words "Created by Floridians outraged and embarrassed by Alan Grayson's leftish positions and childish behavior" on the website. Again, she's welcome to oppose or support any candidate she wishes and the 1st Amendment protects her right to make a website to do so. But when she represented herself as one thing to the FEC and then did another, she broke Federal law.

That's silly...she hasn't said that they will never mention any other rep but him...so there is no rule breaking going on. Geez... At any minute or next week they could start with another rep and his insanity, and as long as they don't specifically state something untrue there isn't any misrepping.
And not being in his district doesn't make him not her rep, so she hasn't mislead. He's a Forida rep, and votes on US congress business.
There is no way this will get taken to court...

Grayson rocks.

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
The sniveling little bitch ought a lift up his dress, and quit whining. If he had a stinkin half an inch of dick, he would simply say, "she's has a First Amendment right, to free speech, and as politicians, we are open to scrutiny by our employers...the tax payers. But of course, he's probably one of those overly, politically correct uber liberal types, that thinks he should be respected because of his title.

Sorry, that's my mistake. I misquoted the FEC filing. It states that her committee "supports or opposes more than one candidate." As in, present tense. Not future. Whether she could theoretically do it in the future is irrelevant to Grayson's claims.

As far as being his representative, your semantic gymnastics are sketchy, but irrelevant anyway. In a Washington Times interview, she specifically lied and claimed to live in his Congressional district when she did not. Making fraudulent claims for the purpose of election fundraising is a Federal crime.

Wonder if ACORN knows that:dunno:

so if she would have not used the word "MY" everything would be OK? I highlty doublt that. These people are "public" figures and will get looked at closer than your average citizen. Grayson just needs to pull his panties up and deal with it. Be a man not a bitch.

Wow,

So she doesn't live in his gerrymandering district. But he does represent the state of Florida, in which she lives.
How dare she criticize him!
How dare we question any of our elected officials.
Heaven forbid, lets lock up every criticizer. That will show em.
yeah, what a great time of democracy and free speech we live in.

You know what, Fuck Grayson. I detest his vote as a Floridian as well. Let's see his ass come threaten me with jail. The fuckwad is not even a Floridian, so fuck him. Get the fuck out of my state. My family has been here for 4 generations, and in North America on the European side for well over 450 years.

So once again, as he fondly tells others, Shut The Fuck Up Grayson.
