RAM Help

Hey guys
I've got a bit of a dull/geeky tech question to ask. I'm trying to upgrade the RAM on my pc and it's getting a little confusing working out which is needed!

Here's a photo of what's currently in my pc:
Premium Link Upgrade

This much I know..
Its DDR2 240 Pin ..and its form factor is Dimm (I think)

So which of these are the one for me?! (..if any)

Premium Link Upgrade

Premium Link Upgrade

Any help would be great
Thanks

Then you want something that says "PC2 3200" as well as "240pin."

Here are some from newegg, but being a US site, you'll probably want to find them on an English site:

Premium Link Upgrade )

Hey thanks for the advice DitchWeasel,
There may be a little flaw in that suggestion though, I've got 4 slots with RAM in, two are the same as in the photo (PC2 3200) and the other two are (PC2-4300) and they all work fine.
So that’s why I’m confused! If I replace the two 256MB with this RAM...
Premium Link Upgrade
...is my computer going to spaz out?!

You can go to Premium Link Upgrade using the PC you want to upgrade and they can do a real time check of the model and list the ram options, prices w/free shipping.

Crucial is the consumer division of Micron, the huge chip maker.

I use Everest Home Edition ( it´s free) by Lavalys it gives a very detailed overview from the whole pc.

Try Google to find it, i´m not sure if i can post a link to a Site where you can download it ... The Rules :yinyang:

Ah, ok. I see. If that's the case then your motherboard may be capable of hosting different speeds of ram. (That, or that 4300 may not be doing all the good it's capable of doing.) You may want to find out what make/model your motherboard is (it's probably somewhere on the board itself, possibly on the PC manufacturer's website, or you can even get a software utility to identify it), then go to the manufacturer's site and find the manual for your motherboard. It will have (normally) an explanation of optimal ram configurations for your board. You may end up having to put the sticks (whichever you choose) in specific slots.

Nah, you're compy won't spaz, but if you have doubts after going through all of that, go with the higher number (4300) and the worst that can happen is that your ram won't be operating as fast as it could be. No harm done, just not as efficient. Or it might be perfect. It all depends on the specs of those four slots on your board.

That crucial.com thing might give you the same info as the manual too, but I've never tried it myself.
