Radiohead's 'In Rainbows'

So, the album is out, as of about 6 or 7 hours ago. Have you downloaded it yet? How much did you pay for it? And, most importantly, what do you think?

Me, I'm loving it. It's going to take a few listens to really get a handle on it, I think, but I'm not disappointed in the least, I'll say that much. I paid three pounds, and I think it's worth every penny of that, and probably more.

Yes very good too. Think about it, they will most probably sell more copies and make more money then if they had released it at a regular price. What is usually the deciding factor in making a buy? It's usually a bargain price coupled together with a great item. Album is very good I think.

I have it downloaded, but I haven't gotten a chance to listen to it yet. I paid nothing for it, because the band has said there will be a cd version released later. I already have the rest of their cds, and I want to complete my collection when it comes out - I just didn't want to buy the same album twice.

its a good thing they done, good on em... i like radioheads older stuff, not realy a fan of much that theyve done after OK computer

I can't wait to get it, I will be paying at least £5 for it. They deserve more, but hey, I'm a tight git.

Prince gave his album away for free, and what happened? All of his shows sold-out. This album will still bring in a **** load of money for the boys.

The beginning of a trend...
... or the continuation of a trend?

"If we had a dime for every time a critic praised Radiohead’s “aural landscapes” in lieu of taking issue with the band’s melody-free, meandering songs, well, we’d have a lot of dimes. One hopes that Thom Yorke and co. will listen to The Bends three or four hundred times before next entering the studio."

He was talking about giving away the album for free, not the band itself.

Well Blender is a quite a medicore music magazine and I take all their reviews with a grain of salt. Any mag that has the Jonas Brothers or a song called "crank that" has a Hot list, Ill pass....

I much prefer Ok Computer and on Radiohead album wise. The Bends is a fine album, but that sound is covered on the radio quite well by quite a few bands these days.

I have not heard the new album, so I will have to give you the benfit of the doubt.

Yeah, Blender isn't that great. There are no really good music magazines out these days. It's all niche marketing, rather than objective listening and evaluation. You pick up a magazine, and it's either geared entirely toward "indie" releases or geared entirely toward "mainstream" stuff (indie in quotations because I don't believe there is such a thing anymore). There is good music, but you have to read between the lines of the reviews to find it.

I think it sucks that people tend to limit themselves to a certain genre, and/or won't bother listening to anything outside what a certain magazine or website proclaims to be cool.

As for Radiohead, I love KidA, Amnesiac, and Hail To The Thief - I'm not such a fan of their early work. The Bends is probably my least favorite album of the early stuff.

Yeah, I really wish people would get over the whole thing with wanting them to return to the Bends and OK Computer. They're both great albums - well, OK Computer more so than The Bends - but that was ten years ago. It's just as stupid as the Dylan fans who were annoyed when he went electric. The band have moved on, and so should the audience.

My boy worked security for one of his shows. Apparently, there was a "hidden" extra charge in the price of admission (an extra 10 bucks? I believe) to make people assume they were getting a deal.

When does this Radiohead CD come out? Not the songs, I want the CD. I have all their stuff already.
