wow.......
racist and racism do get thrown around a lot...but racist bigoted shit happens a lot too...so is it overdone to the point where it's becoming meaningless...definitely...is racism/racist b.s. real...yes, so settle the fuck down and use these terms properly

I understand your point, I suppose, but people of all colors, races, religions, ages and sexes have been enslaved all over the world for the whole of history. Slavery still goes on today in several cultures, be it sexual slavery, indentured servitude, child slavery, etc... I don't agree with your concept that "...They were enslaved, sold, beaten, etc. simply because they have melanin in their skin..." because if that were true, why then have blacks enslaved blacks throughout history, and why then are blacks enslaving blacks to this day in places such as the Sudan, Nigeria and Togo? Why did whites enslave other whites in parts of Rome and Europe? Why has the "Arab" slave trade gone on for close to a millenium by some accounts? Why have Muslims enslaved people of all colors for not following Islamist beliefs throughout history? Moreso, its a class and power issue. Whites of the era you're refereing to didn't enslave blacks because they were black, they enslaved them because they were a weaker civilization, of a lower class, lacking the power to stop the Anglos from doing so.
Slavery has very little to do with race IMO, and is far more indicitive of control over a group of people from a less orgazined and far less powerful culture. If discrimination overall were about race, why then were poor whites in the US dust bowl era of the 1930's ignored, marginalized, ostrascized and denied rights by a government that was made up of whites? Because of this, should we not call poor white people "poor" because it might offend those whose relatives were dust bowl Okies or Arkies?
I agree with you wholeheartedly that the term ****** shouldn't be used in any context, but don't say that it shouldn't be used because of slavery. Say that it shouldn't be used because its a cop out, an inflammatory statement made by a ragingly ignorant asshole who is contorting language to exert control over another human being.
Blacks sold blacks into slavery. Arabs sold blacks as well. But hey according to Liberal Revisionism, only whitey did that.
No, they are putting themselves into a group. They are in the group of people who perpetuate the use of the "N" word (a word I don't use, by the way) when they use the word constantly among themselves.

From what I understand, blacks who use the "N-word" rarely use it in reference only to black people and the context is usually very similar to the use of "dude" or some other slang reference for guy.
That said, it doesn't mean someone using it in a racially offensive manner toward a black carries the same weight.

Hating people becaise they are black people is the racism in a nutshell.
If you hate (Too strong a word already, you can dislike or disagree with other people, hating means your mind is bent outta sane ways) on people and give as the only reason their racial background, you are simply a racist.
If you would have said, I hate that guy, the one who lives next door, he - as an example - always borrows shit and never brings them back and he so happens to be black, too, well that would be another thing but that would be okay.

Liberals in general are well aware of those facts, but unlike many conservatives don't use what other societies or cultures practiced as a barometer for what WE should have practiced. To do so is equivocation of the worst kind; it's an ethically bankrupt rationalization.
After all we were supposed to be an ascendant nation, one where "all men were created equal" and possessed of certain "inalienable rights". In fact we were a very long way from living up to those high minded principles.
There are many threads about racism here at FreeOnes so what exactly inspired you to create this one? Just curious. :dunno:

It is true, the word has now become the equivalent of you got cooties in the states.

I think that it has been used by certain elements in the PC train of thought to end debate. It usually works. But like the Boy who cried Wolf, it's been used so much it doesn't mean what it used to. And to be honest, I think that most people use "racism" to describe people who hold a different idea, world-view, or behavior, not actual people who "hate" others simply because of their skin color.
All racists aren't bigots.
And you're right, some do abuse the concept to squelch debate...
Not unlike the GOP liberal media tripe...does it exist? Yes. Are benign examples of it commonly overlooked? Yes. Does it usually matter for the big picture..Probably not.

It was translated and used elegant rhetoric and all, but basically conveyed the idea (to me) that governments have a "life cycle" and grow and change over time... whether you like it or not. Maybe the democracy part is dying.
And yeah....I know it was meant "stigma" ... but I did it all for the lulz... which is also why I don't really have a point with this post....or others... don't let it bother you.

I don't think there's much racism out there.
What I do believe exists is TRIBALISM, race is just one way of defining who's in the tribe, and who's outside the tribe.
Tribalism was around thousands of years before racism, racism is just way of defining it, and now that textbook racism has died down, what we see is tribalism.
I believe human males are programed for it, those who try to escape it are often done in by tribalism, so it seems like tribalism is a self-selecting pathology.
