I've noticed mine gets hot as fuck! If I put my hand behind it after its been on a bit, it seems to run hotter than my 360. Though it's not overheated and I have one of the new models, if that makes any difference?

Mine did too... then it went yellow light on me... then I called Sony, made a lot of noise, and they sent me a referbed replacement. If you are persistent enough they'll fix it.

Must of just been unlucky. I run my 60gig ps3 8+ hours a day every day for the last 3 1/2 years with no problems at all.

launch ps3 - died after 1.5 years. got a refurb from sony for $170.

xbox360 - still going strong after 3 years.


google 'YLOD' and you'll see that sony has their fair share of problems, too.

mine beeped once and a message popped up and said it was overheating so I saved my game and turned it off. I let it set for about an hour and so then it started right up for me with no problems and I have been playing it ever since
