That's a damn good question which I'd also like to know the answer to.

well typically it would look better yes since the console itself has more power for better graphics but it would look way better on a HD tv.

do you notice a difference between VHS video vs DVD video on the same tv......

also remember that the library of games is different vs the two so it can be worth it to get one just for the games... i would. HD tvs come down in price fast too.

You'll still be amazed by the graphical difference of the two cause its the game code on the disc that makes the graphics and not your Tv, however the games are made with hdtv in mind,so youre gonna miss a good deal of visual details.

But when you do upgrade to an HDTV,you'll be amazed all over again and you're gonna want to re-play games that you beat 5x already just because they're gonna look that much better.

ok cool thanks guys for taken time out and answering

I purchased my PS3 before my HDTV. It was a huge upgrade and then I got my HDTV and the difference is freakin amazing!

Any system is going to be better on a HDTV.. I actually just upgraded to a 47 inch HDTV and the picture on my 360 is amazing

Depending on the type of TV you have, (obviously smaller TVs will be more difficult to find differences), you'll definitely notice a difference, a pretty substantial one too.

it is pretty big besides my big screen hdtv in the living room it is the biggest tv in my house it is as wide as my bedroom door and as tall as a wall size poster

Then it will undoubtedly offer a noticeable upgrade.

You will definately be able to enjoy PS3 on a non-HDtv, but keep in mind that once you do play on an HDtv, it's not just the detail that improves, but also the visual real estate. Old school TVs only have 4:3 aspect ratio, but an HDTV will be 16:9 - you'll see more, and that can help gameplay.
