Prototype disappointment.Summer blockflop?

I am reading people saying its just a kinda cool game but nothing summer blockbuster. 2 out of the three reviews above actually said the graphics are horrible in their video reviews.

On gamerankings its got an avg score of 86,however thats based on only 13 reviews and the sites giving the game 9.0's and up are,Cheat code central,gamertrend,PSnMedia etc.Not too many people have ever heard of these sites and they love every game,give them cranked up reviews so they can stay in business with sponsors.

Look at the contrast with the sites that are WWW known. IGN 7.5 - Cheatcodecentral- 98 7's are good scores for games people think only a 9 means a game is good. However with all the hype the last year in dev time,this is a disappointment.

If anybody on here has a ps3 then check out INFAMOUS. INFAMOUS and PROTOTYPE are the same kinda 3rd person sandbox game but INFAMOUS kicks ass,and kicked ass in the reviews no doubt about it. Its another impressive new exclusive sony IP.

Eh, I never liked games that are over hyped. Usually it means the game is great... or its fun for the first hour and pretty much down hill from there. I normally rent games like that.

Also, why isn't this in the 'Prototype' thread?

Prototype is kind of a poor mans Infamous. It doesn't matter which was thought of first Infamous is miles better. Better graphics, better atmosphere, and a lot more fun to get into from the start. And the guys power skills are fun to play with, no need for guns when you can zap de fuck out of the bad guys with electricity. Guns are for fags in the Infamous world. I can do my spiderman inpressions while running and jumping and climb up buildings, buildings that just by looking at them you are like no way could I climb that thing then five seconds later your a quarter of the way up the side of it humming the spider man theme as you go. Class so it is.

actually I hum 22 acacia ave. when I'm scaling a building for some reason. It looks like that street could be in the Infamous world,No?

The thing is, it's basically The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction game meshed with some elements from Spider-Man/Venom games. With the Hulk game you truly felt you were Hulk. Every ability/special technique you used made you think you were doing something the Hulk would do. But Prototype? You never feel like your powers are your own, more like imitations of other heroes.

It's a good game regardless, but it wasn't worth the hype. Ultimate Destruction was a lot more entertaining.

I haven't played either of them,but from the looks of it,I think I would have more fun playing Prototype.Even though it doesn't look as polished as Infamous,There just seems to be way more carnage and overall destruction in it,and more attacks and maneuvers.

A friend of mine has Infamous and he says that it's one of his favorite games that he's ever played,so I think it probably has better long term value,but I would still love to try Prototype first.

Whatever floats your gaming boat and gives you a fun experience I all for it. Having fun is always 1st over your tongue dropping out over graphics,audio or pyshics. For me Infamous is a incredible game that overshadows Prototype in every way. Like someone said eariler "Prototype is like a poor mans infamous". Thats so correct. Infamous does everything right in that type of game and Prototype only nails it 50%

Prototype 2 might be insane if they can Iron stuff out.

As far as Prototype goes, just wait for the bargain bin copy or a pre-owned copy to pop up. One that is relatively cheap. That way any disappointment to be had wont be as bad.

I went to buy Prototype and the guy working told me not to. Got Fallout 3 instead. This thread confirms he is a smart man. I'll have to thank him.

i remembered seeing this thread.
i just thumbed through last months issue of Game Informer and they had a huge write up about Prototype saying all these unbelievable things about it.
the screen shots looked amazing....then i look into this thread and it's not getting the same type of Review....:dunno:

i rented Infamous and i need to get back into that game. i didn't play it too long cause im knee fucking deep into Fallout 3 and the DLC's
once i finish Point Lookout (tonight maybe?) i can take a long deserved break from Fallout3 and move onto other games.

but i am stunned at the reviews of this game,especially after what i read in the magazine.
