It's one thing to pressure NATO to pony up for their defense, but another thing to question publicly (or privately) whether Americans should fight and die defending Montenegro. They are a member of NATO and we are treaty-bound under Article V to defend Montenegro as if Topeka, Kansas were attacked. Don't like it? Work to expel them, overturn Article V or withdraw from NATO.
We're also treaty-bound to come to Taiwan and the Philippine's defense if they're attacked.
Speaking of treaty-bound, the only time NATO's Article V was invoked was to come to America's aid after 9/11.
