Waiting for google fiber, my city is up for expansion. Once I get it, I won't need cable or their slow ass internet, LOL!

Slow DSL it can get up to 110mb at times in the middle of the night but it rarely exceeds 80, is usually around 40-55 (which is what my dial-up was back in 1998) and can be as slow as 5-10mb in early evening 5-9pm. Verizon sucks!

That's quite some variation. Don't High Speed Internet Providers somewhat loosely guarantee you at least a much smaller RANGE of variation? (I have Dial Up, so I wouldn't know.)

For example, I've seen the Flyers advertising this Time Warner High Speed Internet Plan that is touted as the 2 mbps plan. I would think that if they're going to want the customer to pay a certain amount per month ... they're going to have to give the customer a service that sticks pretty close to that advertised 2 mbps speed. In my opinion, if they advertise 2 mbps, but 75% of the time, the speed speed is actually more like 40 to 50% of what it should be, then the Service Provider doesn't deserve what they charge. It would be false advertising.

I have the basic Internet package through Comcast. I'd rather set my money on fire than give it to them, but they're the only game in town right now. I can watch Netflix and game online at the same time without any hiccups. I honestly can't imagine why I would need anything faster.
 
I'm ok with our speed, it's also free since we're sitting on a university backbone.
